45 acp enfields

Thanks, mate - That's a lot less objectionable than I had thought it would be.

Said it before and I'll say it again - Gee, I like the look of that little rifle of yours. The gloss stock/barrel int he white combo is very sharp indeed.

No worries - and thanks for the compliment !....:yingyang:

Your rifle looks like a veritable masterpiece  , though !

what do you guys thinks about 454 casull instead of 45 auto ?

the pressure is about the same as 308 win but with a straight walled case .......

i'm just sort of thinking out loud here , but it has been rattling around in my head for awhile .

What mag would you feed it out of? Wouldn't it be easier to just do a .45-70 conversion and call it a day? If you want more power, look at the .45 Super. I know it's nowhere near the Casull, but it would mag feed out of this conversion.

i have no issues with building a mag ... maybe using a 44 mag magazine out of a desert eagle and making it longer .... mind you if i'm going to do that i could probally just take a cheap 45 acp mag and cut and section it .

i've seriously thought about the 45-70 . if i went that route i would probally go with a 45-90 just for the extra flexibility and horsepower .

right now i have brass , supplies , dies and a reamer for 45 colt / 454 casull .

i also am not too sure on how much lost veloicty and muzzle blast 45-70 would have in a 14 inch barrel .

i've thought about 45 super and 45 win mag but if 454 casull works , that would be a better way to go ......

I tried some 45 super hand loads in my 14 ",it now has a bit of recoil .Not much as the rifle weighs 9# ,any way with the norc 45acp ammo it shoots on at 25 yards and with the .45super starline brass with 7g of 700x and 230 rn it shoots aprox 3-4 inchs high and the cases are now clean .Will crony when the weather is nicer and see where there at

payment is in, now the waiting game begins, wonder how long?

I have 2 possible donor guns, a savage mk1* with 2 groove barrel, and a maltby (I think) mk1/3 FTR # matching

what one would you use?

I guess I'd go with whichever one is most shagged out now.

If either of those two old ladies is salvageable at all, you'll end up with some guilt over converting her. Mine was irredeemable.

I dont know, I shot 2 test rounds through both, both seemed to fire just fine. Savage is in better cosmetic shape (except mag lips are a bit bent), but the FTR barrel is newer (but the stock/finish is a disaster)

I will have to post pics and get a vote :)
