460 rowland conversion

I shoot 45-08 and have no such anxieties. Of course if the manufacturers of the 460 Rowland "kit" tell you that you need their product it's best to heed and pay up right?

Lol yea, seems more like Rowland is more bum hurt than anything. After swapping out a recoiled spring, I don't see a comp doing much in the way of slowing down a slide.

Interested to hear more about wear on the slides and such...what are you shooting them out of? Have you ever shot them side by side with a similar gun but compensated? There really isnt anything out there in terms a side by side long term wear comparison. Or failures. Or any real info at all!

ive run 45 through my Rowland build and the comp does make a significant difference on and off.
had 3 of us out at the range and tested it, all 3 of us noticed the difference.

the Clark Custom kit would be the same as the Rowland kit i would assume cause isnt Clark the gun that made the 460 for Rowland in the first place?

its the same as shooting my Glock 17C with the comp'd slide and barrel, significant difference between shooting that and a normal 17.

as to the Rowland comp slowing down the slide for it to work better..... i have my doubts.

I have shot fewer than 100 rounds of full-house 45-08 in my Norinco and will never reach 1000 rounds of it. I swap out the $10 recoil spring and shoot 45 ACP most times, and without an annoying compensator sticking off the end.

So I see no point in spending almost $500 to possibly extend the life of a $350 gun.

I have an old Norinco commander length .45 I've been wanting to convert to .460. I liked the idea because I'm not crazy about an extended-length 1911 (comp on a 5") but wasn't sure if it was a do-able project. I just googled and Rowland has a commander conversion available. Too many projects.....

I've got a Norinco with the 460 Rowland conversion too. It's definitely fun to shoot, you know right away that it isn't a regular 45. I don't know how much the comp slows the slide down, it does cycle very fast. It doesn't get shot much because I don't want to lose too much of the expensive brass, but it's a treat.

Hey All

I've arranged for 460rowland to be sold through one of the importers not on this site.

I'll start a new thread and see how the response is - this will give a good idea to the importer as to how many to initially bring in

Kits are once available to Canadians without jumping through hoops!

Details are on the other site under the (Alpha zulu tango echo charlie hotel) section

Wanstalls is out apparently, is anyone else selling these? I have no idea wtf the guy above me is talking about.

i dont know why that dude is being so aloof about this.
###### Armory out of BC is like Irungunz and they bring stuff in, they are now listing 460Rowland conversions on their website.
in short that means they can import the conversions for ya.
i believe there is no import charge for an in stock item from their US store and they list 5 of the 460Rowland conversion kits in stock.

*edit*
ok, now i see why dude was being so aloof about it, we can not mention other gun stores who are not financial supporters of this site and if we do the site auto blocks their name?????

and we are worried about the Liberals taking our guns?

censorship of information, nasty rabbit hole to start down!

Thanks I found the kit on their site. Costs significantly more than the norinco pistol I was going to buy to convert. Has anyone purchased that specific kit? I'd like to hear some experiences with it.

After a lot of careful thought I'm giving up on the idea of the 460 Rowland myself. If we could use them in places other than gun ranges I'd do it but to just shoot paper with I think id get bored quick

..just trying to get word out past the censors in the most obvious way possible, I would have spelled it out if the forum let me.

i have that kit and i like it.

what you really need to ask yourself is do you want an oddball cartridge cause i can guarantee you your never gonna see that ammo available in a gun store up here in Canada or most placed down in the states for that matter. your gonna have to roll your own or pay a LOT of money to have them brought in from the states.

but the ballistics on that round are pretty fantastic.
41 mag ballistics in a semi auto.

Oddball is what I find interesting. .45 is boring I have bought many and sold them all. I am actually leaning more toward building a Rowland around a Glock 41 at this point. Lone Wolf makes a barrel and compensator and the heavy slide should help handle the cartridge quite nicely.

I might just try one myself - my uncle is going to want to sell me his Norc GI at some point.

Oh, and those other guys are great to deal with. They know what customer service means.

I was under the impression only hotlinking non-sponsors is not allowed. Names are not an issue. There always mention of Cabela's, Bass Pro, Sail or even my LGS Williams Arms.
