Anyone on this forum have one? It is a very versatile revolver. Shoots three different calibers 460, 454 and 45 colt. I got this pic on the S&W website while doing some research. I remember being down at Bass Pro in Florida and seeing the 500 revolver. It was a big gun. I should have taken a closer look. check this out.

Just handled one yesturday and am looking to find one with the 8inch barrel???????????
Anyone seen one?

At one time the 5" model was prohibited in Canada... however, it has since been revised and is once again restricted.

I'd get the 5" model... they look ###y.

Here's my 500 with the 8 3/8" barrel next to my 460V and my old 629 and 686. Both X frames dwarf the 44 and the 357.

Didn't know this gun can shoot 45 Colt and 454 Cassul, I allways wondered how accurate are revolvers when shooting second cartidge? 44 Spcl in 44 magnum, 38 spcl in 357 magnum and now 454 cassul and 45 colt in 460 S&W?
Can someone answer me this ?

Cordially, Chaslav.

I have one, a 460v 5", and all I have to say is WOW  This thing is guaranteed to put a look of astonishment one anyone's face who hasn't shot one
 <--- they usually look like this.
It feels like a flat palm slap on your chest when it goes off, not to mention the FLAME! For me ( who likely wont ever get an ATC) I just shoot it at the end of my range session (outdoors) FOR s*its and giggles. I dont shoot .454s os .45s out of mine. Thats what the .454 and .45 are for

Just bought one.If I can pick it up tomorrow I will get to shoot 45lc anyway at the indoor range. If its early enough might get to outdoor range for the real kabooms:D

Can you post a picture holding the gun? It would give a perception on how big this thing is in the shooters hand. I like the 5" model and would be the one I would look at.

I took a bunch of the guys from work out to the indoor range I shoot at a couple of weeks ago. They'd all shot some rifle in the past and a couple had done some light handgun stuff. They chewed through many boxes of 9mm and a couple of .40S&W and I let them shoot a few rounds on my .45 1911.

Things were winding down and the range guy said that the guys were wrapping up once the last box of 9 was done. I said "fine. It's time for 5 rounds of the .460 please". He grinned and went out to get the stuff.

We all line up and the guys are all laughs at the size of the .460/5". The range guy looks at me and says "you first?". I'm tempted to urge one of the others to go first but they have all stopped laughing and are sort of giggling in a nervous frightened sort of way.... I step up, load a round, make a big show of lining up and then finger the trigger. THere's the expected huge BOOM!, BIG FLASH and CONCUSSION WAVE (indoor with barrier stalls :D) and I immediately turn to see three faces that are looking  back at me. And if the wall hadn't of been holding them up I don't doubt they'd be shakily pacing backwards away from the evil mean thing.... I glance to see if there's any pee stains but to their credit they held on... :D The only one that didn't just about faint had been with me once before when we both shot the beast so he knew what to expect but wisely kept quiet.

I almost had to openly question their manhood before they'd fire off their own rounds. Once the first was talked into it and took the shot the rest had to or die of the shame and ridicule.

We all went for beer and big rare steaks after that.... :D
