I saw a thread about the 22 shorts and stopped off at our Walmart. There was exactly 1 brick of shorts there and they had ripped the top flap off for display. so I asked him to scan a little box. It came up at 3 something. Then he scanned the bar code on the brick and it was 10 bucks. He shrugged and I payed the 10 and was on my way.
You should have asked for a rain check for 50 boxes ... Our local Zellers store had a 2 for 1 scotty electric downrigger special, they advertised it and sold out within hours and wrote rainchecks for a few guys who missed it. Which they honoured even though each one was a 500 dollar mistake in the customers favour .Was at my local Canadian Tire last night picking up some Federal Bulk 22lr and as the employee was taking down my PAL info I noticed a single box of Winchester 22lr 500 count with a tag of $3.79.
I asked him to see it, told him that the price must not be accurate. He scans it and tells me it was. I explain the price must be for the sleeves of 50 packs inside the box. He checks again and says no the price is accurate. He even writes down the Canadian Tire product number on the side of the box in case there are any problems at the til.
Sure enough it scans at $3.79 at the til, the checkout girl remarks what a great deal that is in comparison to the federal, I agree, pay for my purchase, walk back to the truck the whole time expecting an employee to come stop me to explain the pricing error...nope.
Just like that Ikea commercial. START THE CAR!!! START THE CAR!!!
Ontario. It's the law here for ammo.
CT in my home town, ON also has what I call the "walk of shame". Once they are done recording the purchase/PAL, they escort you and the ammo from sporting goods to the register signalling to the cashier, all good! .
Some guys have all the luck.
I was checking out walmart the other day and they had about 10 500 count bricks of winchester wildcat sitting above a tag that said "Winchester .22 $13.99". I asked for 3 of them (i'm not that much of hoarder), and they wouldn't ring them in because the girl was signed off of the till, so someone had to carry them up to the front. When they rung then in, the price came up as $26.99. I said "Woah, wait a minute, the tag on the shelf said $13.99!" I was told the price was what they scanned at, and they wouldn't even follow their "scannign code fo prctice" rules that are posted right at every till. Needless to say I left without any .22 ammo.
Some want more than just your PAL info to write down. The Wal-Mart in Cornwall also asks for your age and address. The TSC here wants your phone number on top of all that. Atleast Wal-Mart lets you walk around the store once you've bought the ammo at the sports counter...the CT here also escorts you to the door for anything in the locked cabinets (everything from ammunition to a paintball mask).
I would have cleaned the place out.
