looking at 1000 yards or more and wondering what everyone is using,

just researching this cartridge it looks like a 6.5 by 47 improved or on steroids

similar to the relationship between the 6 br and the 6 dasher

so what’s being used and who makes the better bullets right now

Jeff

All the 130-140 6.5mm bullets are pretty darn similar, whether they are hybrid, VLD, ELD, RDF, Scenar, SMK, etc etc. A well-developed load, shot in a quality gun with a match-grade barrel, and I really don't think the bullet you are using will determine how well you will do in a match.

That being said, I vote Berger hybrid since I still have a goodly pile of them stashed away....

My ctr shoots 1" groups at 300y with factory loaded ELD-M's. Have a bunch of Eld-x to develop a load for but think that
factory ammo is going to be tough to beat.

147gr ELD Match & RL16. 2710 fps from 24" pipe and drives tacks. Ramshot Hunter a close second, little slower 2695 f/s

Sierra Matchkings, 142 grain for me. The ELD-X (143 gr) and the SST (129 gr) also shot pretty good. Like most people using the H4350 and Varget in the SST. Getting around 2710 fps with my RPR (24" barrel). I have read some good stuff on RL 26. Some guys getting 2900 fps with a 140 grain bullet. If I can find some that will be my next experiment. Read lots of good stuff with RL 16 as well.

I been shooting 152 Matrix from my 6.5 x 47's and they have performed extremely well from my 1 in 8 twist barrels. They should work very well from a 6.5 Creedmoor as well.

Factory loaded Hornady Precision Hunter 143gr ELD-X did this 5 shot group at 250 yards.

Since I have only tried Hornady 143 ELDx's, I will say them. The factory rounds shoot well as do my reloads, although I am still tweeking it. I do have 140 Berger VLD hunters and one box of Hornady 140 match to try at some point this spring. I can not wait for spring to come!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Shooting in the cold is fine, doing load development in the cold sucks however.
H4350 is all I use. I can not find RL 16 or I would have bought some to try, got more H4350 today.

143 ELD-X - Just built five rounds yesterday with 39.0 and 40.0 (had tried 37.0 and 38.0.....not so good). With 40.0 H4350.....put five into a dime..... slightly under 1/2 minute. Haven't shot it out further than 100 yet. May up the horse power another grain and see what it does....

I have run 120 Amax, 123 ELD-M's. 136 and 139gr Scenars, 140gr Berger's and now I have run the 147 ELDM's for a season. They all shoot extremely well and have their place. However if I was going long consistently I would go with the 147's. They have been shooting extremely tight in my rifle aren't finicky at all and I have been crushing a mile with them quite easily. I will stretch them out to 2km here in the next couple weeks.

I run 136 Scenars in my 260, and will try them in my 6.5CM once I have fired off the factory 140BTHP and have some brass to play with. To be honest the CM is low on the priority list right now because my 260 and 6XC are working so well I have not been tempted to even take the CM out of the safe.

My buddy shoots the 136 Gr. Screnars in his 6.5 Creedmoor with IMR 4451 and his gun is fantastic. Enough that I bought a couple of boxes of 167 Scenars for my 308!

Don't be afraid to try bullets and do some load workup, and for powder give X-reload a call they always seem to have everything in stock.
