That would be a 338 SAUM or a 338 WSM
Both available today.
These are the good old days. Most everything can be had.

It’s a really really sad state of affairs if anyone has 270 envy….If nothing else, it will help the Creedmoor shooters that suffer from .270 envy.
keep your eyes peeled for a 338 RCM. Ruger put them out with 20'' barrels and iron sights. Neat little rifles that do everything a 338-06 will.Oh I know it's absolutely doable now. But if they put out the PEAK ammo in 338 Fed then that might get some factory rifles made too, and I might be able to get a factory rifle without having to go through all the trouble and cost.
Most likely just going to end up with a rebarrel or rebore on a used 30-06 but we'll see, bought a bike instead of guns this year.
I wouldn't mind trying a box just to see how it groups out of my Tikka.Something no one has talked about there is no Gaurantee that any of the 5 Plus Peak ammo will shoot accurately in yiour rifle![]()

Any sponsors sell this ammo yet?
THERE is no barrel made or steel that will last with that....no element or alloy on the periodic table can handle the direct, repeated exposure of an 85,000 psi small-bore powder explosion without rapid degradation.
I recently finished an interesting podcast on different alloy/higher pressure rounds and gain twist barrels. It makes sense to gradually increase the twist rate to reduce the initial pressure.
...what actually wears out throats. Friction from the bullet engaging the lands, not the heat from ignition. Proof has a new barrel - starts out at a 1:500” twist and accelerates to 1:7” that basically eliminates throat wear for all practical purposes. Tested against a standard tube in 7BC, they completely cooked a regular tube at 2500 rounds, and the new barrel with the straight rifling to start is over 5000 rounds and still shooting sub inch 10 shot groups.
Yea but theres 5 different boxes tooI wouldn't mind trying a box just to see how it groups out of my Tikka.

There's a lot of wiggle room in the word "comparable"....
Federal says barrel life is comparable to standard loads. Time will tell
aka vague...very vagueThere's a lot of wiggle room in the word "comparable".
This just turned that 6.5 Dudmoore into a 6.5 CreammoreLots of confusion and misunderstanding about barrel life and throat erosion.
The 6.5 Dudmoore certainly wouldn’t be considered an overbore cartridge. Adding 200fps to it really won’t turn it into one either.
Most fellers wouldn’t even get close enough in round count for it to ever be a concern.
Kind of like talking about barrel life on a 308, or a 30-06... what's the point?

It didn’t tho. That’s the thing. There are lots of faster 6.5’s already. If a feller wants more speed, it’s already easy to get. This just turned that 6.5 Dudmoore into a 6.5 Creammore
It will be interesting to wade through the marketing vs reality of this.It didn’t tho. That’s the thing. There are lots of faster 6.5’s already. If a feller wants more speed, it’s already easy to get.
If this tech catches on, which it really hasn’t in previous versions, then everything is the same again.
Once a dud, always a dud.
