#6 on a moose...no way. Not unless you could put the muzzle right on that eyeball. One might think that given that distance the shot wouldn't spread much therefore act like a slug...but that's just not sound physics. Each pellet acts as an independant mass and wouldnt have the energy of a slug. I would wager that the plastic plug would be more damaging at that range than the pellets.

Ran into a bear one time while hunting birds with a single shot 20 gauge with #7.5 shot. I never even let him get within a fifty yards. I turned and ran through the choppins, leaving my dog in the dust, she turned tail and ran too. I swear for a 180 pound guy and not in great shape, my feet never so much as broke a twig or disturbed a leaf. I litterally flew on tipie toes.
