Oh my! 40 rounds from a Magnum in one sitting? No trip to the hospital, detached retina, broken shoulder, broken cheek bone, broken trigger finger, broken extractor, broken bolt handle, migraine, blurry vision, or any other of the maladies previously posted on this very forum regarding shooting anything magnum?

I broke 3000 FPS in a factory tikka with federal fusion bullets and Sta-ball 6.5 powder, over listed max and no pressure signs right up over the peak in velocity, powder is to slow to cause excessive pressure and the barrel was to short to see any significant gains over 2980 average
I used quickload to estimate 64K psi over the SAAMI max of 61. A touch over pressure. Completely unnecessary, dangerous and not recommended.
3 thou over at 64 is NO Big Deal depending on the brass !
jmo RJA short stout bullet like 120 Sierra Prohunter can be driven faster without excessive pressure compared to a 120 TTSX or other longer or softer bullets ime. If you like speed, the Sierra in front of RL-17 is worth a try.

currently using 162 SST til i run out , the remainder of my 140gr Woodleighs Boxes (4?) an then im going to have to start thinking about a budget all rounder for big deer in mind.

And no brake on this rifle either, I will admit a little snappy but not unmanageable for a hunting rifle, my 280AI is 8oz lighter and not as much recoil as the SAUM.
Nice to have them both at the range for comparison at the same time, both shooting 160gr bullets.
Shouldn't be much, if any, difference balllistically between a 280 AI and a 7 SAUM. I know in my sporter version of each, there's only about a 20-30 fps variance.- dan

Two different rifles of course as far as recoil goes, both rifles have Wildcat stocks, 280 has a Defiance anTi action and a 23 inch #1 contour fluted Benchmark, the 7saum is a Sako A7 action with a 23 inch #2 contour fluted Benchmark, velocity was 30fps difference 2900 out of the SAUM and 2930 with my handloads in the 280AI, Im sure when I start hand loading fore the SAUM it will be a touch more cranky.

There has been no whispers along my grape vine of any reproductions at this point mate!
last i heard the owners were stepping back and taking a moment to have a big think- an until then, there was no plans of reproducing!
i loaded then in the kimber but found it didnt love them, i shot fallow and even a Sambar deer with them, behind the armpits thoough and wouldnt push my luck on "stags" , but for foxes an up to small species deer..... have at em!
A highly under-rated cartridge by many hunters, who believe it be a "women and kids" cartridge. A ballistic twin to the venerable 7x57, that has worked well on the military and game fields the world over since its inception by Paul Mauser. Those who use it know that is performs very well!
My wife loves her Steyr Mountain Classic in 7mm-08, and I built mine on a Winchester Model 88 with a 20" Benchmark barrel, for deer hunting in the brush country. Her rifle loves the Sierra Pro Hunter 140 gr bullet. Mine is liking the 140 gr AccuBond so far. (If I need a heavier bullet, I have 150's shooting in 280 Rem and 160's shooting in my STW) I wouldn't hesitate to use it on black bear, moose or elk, under most common hunting scenarios. (Avg distance of all game taken over past 37 years is 137 yds)
Years ago, I read an article that mentioned John Wooters' full length stocked Model 88 in 7mm-08, and have wanted one every since. Just need to find a nice piece of walnut now and a stock maker that will fit it to my rifle!
