7.62X39 bolt rifle

Right, but for the same price a rifle can be bought in 308.

This is very true, and while its not up to me to decide what rifle someone else should shoot, I can still think of many reasons why someone would want one. Perhaps they already have a .308?

I picked up a cz527 a few years ago for a girlfriend to shoot and hunt with. She was 5'1'' and 105 pounds soaking wet. It was all the rifle she needed and cared to shoot. Surprise to me how accurate this little rifle was. It could burn surplus all day long, and still keyhole commercial ammunition at 100 yards. Its a light bullet, cheap to shoot, and accurate as hell. Each to their own, right?

I just don't see the value of buying an expensive CZ to shoot cheap corrosive ammo in. Non-corrosive hunting ammo is expensive, harder to find and offers nothing over the 308 and a host of other similar chamberings.

In the end, you are right ........ Each to their own.

There is always a bigger, better, newer etc... Cartridge to shoot. I am not an SKS fan, just don't like the platform... But I do like the little 7.62X39... It is a cool little round... I don't use any surplus ammo and wouldn't run that stuff through my gun, but components are readily available for reloading the 7.62 and I enjoy reloading the case... and I have a number of fun and effective loads worked up, from squibs to target loads... I just picked up 2K of the Hornady Z-Max 123's... Let the fun begin.

I bought the Ruger M77 Hawkeye in 7.62x39, and really enjoy it! 16" barrel, very well balanced. I shoot all reloads from this rifle.
The 150 grain bullets shoot around MOA.
I can shoot cast bullets up to 200 grains, and they shoot great! Lots of fun reloading this cartridge!
I guided my sister in law to shoot a 350-400 pound Black Bear Boar two years ago. Took the bear with out any issues.

Give one of these rifles a try! You will have a riot! And amzi gly cheap to shoot!

You're not inclined to click on some of the 30 sponsors links at the top of the page? Would you like me to wash your dishes for you as well?

Hadn't crossed my mind to check the sponsors.

My first recourse was of course to make a post on the matter.(Sarcasm BTW)

And I will take you up on the dishes.

I anticipate the next few months (say Spring) will see most dealers' inventory being replenished. I'm also partial to the small CZ carbine.

However, I also acquired a Zastava LKM 85 in 7.62x39. Its a neat little rifle, trigger on my specimen is a little gritty and heavy at 4lbs. Bolt a bit rough. Very plain wood. Beautiful blueing. Good irons. Overall, very acceptable finish. I haven`t yet had an opportunity to test the rifle.

My Ruger MkII in 7.62x39 usually shoots around 200rds before the extractions get sticky. If I don't clean the chamber at this point it will get stickier until the extractor starts to slip off of the rim before it can pull the casing out of the chamber. This is with lacquered rounds.

My AIA is good for around 20 rounds before a case gets stuck in the chamber. I bought a couple of cases of copper washed and that ammo does not give me problems.

From what I can see is the chamber heats up in bolt rifles as semi's like a SKS have fast ejection so no time for the heat transfer. At a certain point the lacquer gets sticky from the heat build and that is when problems occur.
