7mm-08 question

As I mentioned in a previous post, most of the bigger cervids I have shot have been with 150 or 160 grain bullets in the 7x57. I have never seen any great need to use the 175 grain bullet in any 7mm, since the 160 Partition has always shown superb penetration. I am experimenting with the 140 TSX and the 140 & 160 Accubond right now. Suspect they will be very good also. Regards, Eagleye.

I don't shoot magnums.
Just wanted to stir the pot with you 7mm08 users. :stirthepot2: I just don't get the the big infatuation and exitement some of you have for this round. It's almost like there's a mini cult following on here. Whereas, it's a pretty uncommon round just about everywhere else.

You are limited to lighter grain bullets in a limited available variety of off-the-shelf ammo (most stores don't even carry it)and for reloaders, limited to lighter, shorter bullets because of the small case capacity and short overall magazine length compared to other 7mm's like the Mauser and .280 Rem. Other than it being compact for those concerned about using shorter actions and lower recoil, I don't see what the big attraction is. It's as if, just because it's "odd" it's the one to get.

Its different, and does the job. Not everybody has one. Most people doubt its capabilities until they use one. drops deer like lightning. I have not tried it on moose yet, but it will be used. Its not too far on the trails of the 7mm and uses less powder. Whats not to like?
