7th Annual Upper Canada Double Gun Classic

Not sure if I can make it at this point, but can I get added to the list to keep updated? I've got an OU now, but would love to glean some knowledge and look at some 16ga SxS.

I see this event is being advertised on the CCFR Facebook page. Will it turn into another Woodstock? "By the time I got to Osh-a-wa, we were half a million strong..."

I appreciate the enthusiasm for promoting the event guys so if you have some ideas on something you want to do, please run it past me first. Simply because I want to make sure the correct info gets noted.

I guess one needs facebook to see whats up…

Not just FB. It's a private group so you have to be a member of that group to see it.

Yes, I guess it is a closed group. Anyway, I just went pretty far back into the depths of the CCFR page to see the number of 'likes' as of this afternoon (the post had 68 this morning), and although FB can be tricky that way I think the post in question has now been deleted.

Hmmmm. My intention was never to have the FB post deleted. We like increased publicity for the Classic. Hopefully it means more people and more interesting guns to see. My only concern/wish is to make sure the correct info is noted......dates, times, cost, type of event and atmosphere etc. We don't want people coming and expecting one thing and finding another then being disappointed. Additionally, because WE need to manage the fee collection aspect on behalf of the club, it's important for attendees to know they need to check in with us, not the club.

None of those are big things but attended to properly, they make the day runs smoother for everyone. And those of us volunteering our time to put the event on want to enjoy it as well.

RIDE SHARING

As the cost of travel mounts, especially gasoline, jumping in the truck and heading off to somewhere 3-4 hrs away is becoming an increasingly costly affair. Id like to encourage those who are at some distance to use this thread to organize some ride sharing. I suspect it would make the long drive more interesting for many of you and of course it always helps to share the cost of gas. Feel free to post your location and request for potential passengers/drivers on this thread.

What a great event. Sadly I will not be able to attend this year due to an unavoidable scheduling conflict.

That said, Canvasback is going to bring my favorite gun in my collection......the 1924 Fox HE Grade "Super Fox" 3" classic duck cannon. This gun is in fantastic restored condition courtesy of Chris Dawe at Stillwater in NFLD, though it has been hunted with very hard in all weather since the completion of the restoration. For those of you interested in the "big doubles" this one is a beauty and it shoots as good as it looks.

He may also bring my light custom vintage 16 gauge A Grade Fox, another hunting piece, also courtesy of Mr. Dawe.

I am going to keep some of the other special guns hidden until next year when I will hopefully be back with my 2 Purdey's. A 12 gauge 2 barrel set in its original makers case and an spectacular 1873 bar in wood 20 bore hammer gun that is currently in restoration at an undisclosed location.......

Adam, you will be missed, as will Wally. Always happy to load more nice guns into the vehicle. But at least I know you will be having a terrible time at your conflicting event! Laugh2
