858 fail

Went to the range today and one of the empties got stuck in the barrelt without ejecting! This seems to happen all the time with surplus ammo but NEVER with hunting ammo. Its incredibly annoying and for some reason I cant seem to shoot a clip without at least one FTE. Now this round is stuck, ive tried needle nose pliers, ive tried using the cleaning rod to poke it out the other side (ramming it as hard as I can) but it wont budge! Any ideas?

yeah, same thing as what heppened to me. Looks like you raped the inside of your gun a bit more though.

Laquered cases and a sticky chamber is probably the culprit. Never had such a problem with mine, but I'm a chronic over oiler.

Come to think of it, I've had one stick in a sks and a cz858 that a wack to the bolt with a 2x4 bit fixed, but never ripped a case...

That's what she said.

read his post again.
The one and only time this happened to me, was the third shot after the gun came back from coating. So maybe not a dirty chamber issue? I just used a brass cleaning rod and it popped right out.

He said he sent his gun in for coating. And that he thought that a dirty chamber was "maybe" not the issue. He never said he cleaned the chamber before he sent it in.

lots of these threads lately, as the original batch of 858's start to age the chambers start to get really dirty as a lot of people neglect them (I'm not suggesting the OP didn't clean his chamber but this is the usual reason for a stuck case).

I rarely clean my guns anymore. I used to be anal about it, now, not so much.

Step one - Buy Scotch
Step two - Bring Scotch over
Step three - We Remove Casing
Step four - We remove scotch
.. we need to try something new though.

How does tomorrow sound :D

Sorry. Bad ###ual inuendo joke. "That's what she said." Humor fail. I still think it's a laquer thing. My 7.62x54r stuff gets sticky sometimes too, but never had a head come off. Lucky I guess.

next time you up in Pet get jeff to hit the chamber with 308 chamber polisher.
If your not goign to clean you gun, then oil the #### out of it then run a a patch before u shoot it.

yuppers thats her right there, looks like it was bitten by a beaver.
As for the laquer , i tested that suggestion as well had about five different types of ammo with defferent types of casing material, corrosive and non corrosive.
Still happened, and yep i cleaned chamber well between each test round.
I used a brass cleaning rod from kit (several lenthgs screwed together) and a two by four asa mallet to drive my brass out...also used a nose cone guide.
Still to avail.
Im wondering if its a gas issue or a batch issue may we can pm first three digits on serial ....im just grasping at straws, i really do want to love my 858!

Try JB Bore Bright & Cleaning compounds from Brownells. Read the directions and this sould correct this issue.

Maybe try a heat gun and a metal rod with lots of wd-40, when i didnt clean my gun for like 2500 rounds i eventually got a stuck case and thats what i had to do. just brush the #### out of the chamber after to remove all that laquer stuff that collects there.

If this was an xcr there would be 5 people laying full blame on the quality and design of the rifle. .... Sorry I had to.... I blame poor quality control of the mass mass mass produced ammo.

It's not the ammo. If I were a betting man I would blame the 858 barrel and not cleaning the chamber. I would hazard a guess that this does not happen nearly as often in true military version 58's. If you do a search most of these threads seem to be happening with 858's.

Laquer thinner and a brass brush will work better than WD-40 on the laquer build up issue.
As for the stuck case allow it to sit over night with Kroil oil then using your stuck case exctractor give it a couple of tap's and your done.
