9.3 bullet test started. pics posted in #1

LOL. Only so long as you scratch 9.3X62 onto its base to "safen" it up! You gotta use correct brass.

30-06 brass works perfectly even in my rifle. we followed the same procedure as for 30-06 brass to make those ones working in my 9.362. but the extra work for 9.3x62 was a good lesson and learning process and nothing wrong with that ... a day without learning something new is a wasted day.

how does marking 9,3x62 on to the base make it safer ?

a 9.3x62 round might fit in the magazine of a 30-06 , but if it actually manages to chamber , there is something seriously wrong with the rifle .

now if it was a 308 based round , or a 9.3x57 , there might be cause for concern as these might actually chamber in a 30-06 .

I hope so. Maybe my bad experience was a fluke. In the mean time I've ordered up some 250 grain swift a frames. I am kicking around the idea of making the 375 my go to hunting rifle for here and the dark continent.

The A-Frame are very consistent bullets from what I've seen in my tests.
.375

.264

It will probably look something like this.

on my opinion 250 grains even swift may be on the light side for the dark continent and some of the animals you may encounter ....

Plains game only. Nothing that bites back.

I think the .375-250 A-Frame is a great all purpose bullet for North American hunting, but in the African bush you're on the ground along with large, bad tempered beasties. Train wrecks involving lions, buffalo, hippos, and elephants are not unheard of, and you might as well participate effectively in the activities if problems arise; what the hell, you're there anyway. IMHO, its prudent to hunt Africa with lead core 300s or 270 gr monos, which have typical .30/06-180 trajectories big case .375s, and can take even the miniature antelope species, baboons, and impala without being terribly destructive, since there isn't enough density in those targets to cause those tough bullets to fully expand.

I concur with Mike and Phil. You may have an opportunity pop up unannounced and it would be a shame to not have a bullet that can do the job. Problem Lions pop up from time to time as do buffalo and the good old "PAC Ele". Can't hurt to be a little better prepared than not. And sometimes there are critters that are just bound and determined to be contrary with you, no matter the steps you take. You'll never regret a 300 grain A-Frame in the 375. If you did have to face shoot Dumbo in an emergency I'd rather err on a heavier bullet than a light one. A 300gr A-Frame might get to the brain if you had to take the shot, but I'd bet the farm that a 250 wouldn't.

to keep you informed i just finished to fix that leaking outdoor water line and we are now good for next spring sorry for delays.

as winter arrived. all the loads are to be finished ....

Phil.
