9 mm arguments

My hands are too small for the Glock, the Sig p226, and the CZ-75/85.

Fortunately, there are GREAT pistols still suited.

For IPSC production class:
S&W M&P (I think this may actually be a better gun than the Glock, and it has 1911-like ergos for small hands!)
CZ Shadow (something in the grip/trigger is more ergonomic for smaller hands)

Julie Goloski shoots an M&P 9mm in IPSC production.

Bullseye/general target:
1911 in 9mm
Tweaked Browning Hi-power (I'd still go with the Shadow).

I digress but I am going to make my first firearm a Simonov SKS. The handgun will come later when I have the $$$...they're damned expensive comparatively speaking dontcha know!

Also, DVC trip planned for this weekend so I can comment on what I liked/didn't like and then hear all about how I didn't shoot a certain handgun right or I "...wouldn't know a good handgun if it shot me in the ass" from the brand loyalists...

Thanks for all your input though, it's clear that I made the right move in joining CGN and appealing to the masses for advice!

I should also state that even if my hands were bigger and I could reach the mag release on a Glock, I'd still lean towards the M&P with no mag disconnect. I'm impressed with the pistol.

If you want to speed up your reloads, switch the mag release to the right side and use your trigger finger to push the mag release button. For me it is so much faster and I can keep the gun aiming in the same direction as I am shooting. You will like the M&P/

Philthy' if the Shadow is close to what you like but you need just a hair slimmer a hand hold then you can replace the rather fat rubber grips with some svelte aluminium and grip tape options that are said to make it a lot more friendly for smaller hands. And they are a factory CZ part so they even qualify for use in IPSC production class.

Wnich 9mm?

The H&K P7 was developed for the (then) West German Police. The accidents that happened with that pistol were then confined to police personnel. Bavaria, Lower Saxony mandated the use of the H&K P7 for all police officers. The pistol was also in use in Saxony as well as in Thuringia. In 1983 the New Jersey police were issued the P7. During the first month three officers shot themselves in the leg during training.

You claim that this is false data. My sources are the international weapons magazine " Visier", as well as various German daily newspapers reporting these incidents as they were happening. What is the basis for your claim?

I see that Big Mouth has nothing to say for once, least of all can he defend his claim that I presented "false data".

Fools speak because they have to say something, while wise men speak because they have something to say.

I think my 92f beretta is the best I have shot so far I have just picked up a 92c Taurus 9mm, Im looking forward to shooting it the 357 mags and 44 and 454 and 45 are getting a new freind in the safe" Some of my shooting pals are starting to warm up to 9mm but if you are a 45 1911 guy you will never change! Happy Shooting.
