I like Leupolds VXII or VXIII they are clear, light, and at dark they are very close to as bright as the swarvorsky and other top end scopes certainly for a 1/4 of the price. And service is also trouble free from people i have talked to, i have never had to send a leupold in for service.

Schmidt & Bender is my choice for optics, this is a no compromise choice and the brand that I have used the most, I have full confidence in them and have not found anything to replace them with and frankly I don't want to. My second choice goes to Leupold because they are fine scopes and very practical options considering they are made in the US and have the best service in optics, but they are not S&B's. The Swarovski and Zeiss are also top tier scopes but I prefer the S&B's overall.

I like my Bushnell products. I own/have owned Bushnell rifle scopes, spotting scopes, and binoculars, and they have all served me well. They also have absolutely incredible customer service, if you ever have to deal with them for any reason after the purchase. They have been good enough to me over the years, that I buy Bushnell exclusively for any product I may be purchasing for which they make a suitable offering.

I topped my 280 with an elite 4200 5yrs ago_On the last day of hunting after 3 hrs of being snowed on -15celsius,a3ptr bolted across the pit @220 yds pulled her up DAMN! full of snow. With gloves on all I could do was blow it out.Brought it up again and made the shot.My bud couldn't believe his eyes.Inow have 4 of my toys topped with one of these,Love em.Later.

They apparently have a fairly large selection of medium priced scopes. What they are like is anyones guess. The lenses, judging by my cameras will be just fine. Can they take the punishment of a hunt, or the beating of heavy recoil? your guess is as good as mine.

I like the Zeiss scopes. I have a Diavari V and it is awesome. Unbelievable clarity and brightness. I need only one...my 7mmstw kills everything in the big game department that I hunt.

I voted burris! Kind of an odd choice but the glass is good and the ballistic-plex that comes standard is awsome. I have a couple leupold's that I really like but for the hunting purposes I find the burris easier to use, and to me that's what it is all about. I really like that the whole eye piece end turns to adjust your power setting. No matter how big my gloves are and how cold it is out the adjustments are made easily. And honestly I can't tell the difference in clarity of the glass from the leupolds or the zeiss my friend has?

Well after getting all hyped up over the Burris scopes I had one go south during the deer hunt... wandering zero:rolleyes: . I talked to Stoeger they looked after it no problem. It figures I would get the one problem scope out of about a hundred that I sold.:(
The customer service at Stoeger Canada is top drawer..

Based on my experience and uses:

1) Weaver Grand Slam and T series
2) B&L 4000 & 4200 series
3) Nightforce
4) Swarvoski
5) Leupold

Evaluating - Sightron.....

Haven't seen one Chinese scope that wasn't over priced.

Well we Nikon, Leupold, Weaver and Sightrons all have different levels of scopes. Perhaps you can tell us which sightron you tried. I think some might right off Leupold based on the Rifleman line but they do make other models..

Most of my scopes are Bushnell Elites. They provide the bset price performance in the middle range market. Lepolds are perhaps slightly better in quality and customer service (if you ever need them), their prices are unreasonally high in Canada - 20-30% higher than the Elites 3200. For me it is like every four scopes you get the fifth one for free.

I may be crazy but I am not stupid. I am happy with the Elites for quality and price. :D :D :D

Most of my scopes are Bushnells. I like the idea that they offer a wide selection of optics at an equally wide price range. I have several 3200 Elites, and an older B&L 3000. I also have a little 2-7x Bushnell Legend...3.5" of eye relief, and I find it very bright and clear. No Rainguard of course, but it was a great value for dollars spent at less than $150, and I would definitely consider another. I have a few older Tasco World Class 3-9x40's...none have gone south on me yet, but I've come close to giving myself the telling eyebrow rip when using them.
