A Real Hunter Slams Black Rifles

Jim Dumbo says "Sorry, folks, in my humble opinion, these things [Ar-15's] have no place in hunting. We don't need to be lumped into the group of people who terrorize the world with them, which is an obvious concern."

Thanks jim....now everyone who enjoys having a black rifle is a terrorist.

a bunch of soldiers have made comments showing their great displeasure of being called a terrorist when carrying ar-15 type riffles into combat in the fight for peace and free speech. i honestly dont blame them, that is the last thing i would expect from an American hunting writer.

I replied to his comments, but for some reason it omited my name.

This is what I wrote:

Ah yes, Ignorance once again rears it's ugly head.
I am a Service Rifle, Tactical Rifle, and Precision/Sniper rifle Competitor.
I own, use, and collect Military style firearms along with the more traditional Hunting style rifles.
Mr. Zumbo you have made some of the most ignorant, narrow minded comments regarding firearms I have heard in a long time.
A gun,is a gun,is a gun.it Should not matter what a firearms looks like.We should ALL be banding together to fight archaic and unjust firearms laws.
You Mr. Zumbo are no better then the Anti-Gun people we have up here in Canada.
We just fought off one attempt to ban all semi-auto long guns, and there is another attempt in the making.
Divide and Conquer, thats how we as firearms owners will lose the right to use or own ANY and ALL firearms.
I will no longer be reading or purchasing "Outdoor Life", nor any publications related to it.
Sir, you are NOT my friend. You ARE my ENEMY.
I hope others will also boycott you and the "Outdoor Life" publication.
Lastly Mr. Zumbo, you owe ALL law-abiding firearms owner in the U.S. and here in Canada for comparing Military style rifle owners with Terrorists.
.

SKBY.

His career is severely damaged if not over. His credibility is gone.

I think we can all take pleasure in knowing the world knows this guys is an asshat.

Oh, here's another one. :onCrack:

UPDATE: As a point of clarification about this blog, it is important for everyone to realize that the opinions expressed here are Jim’s and not necessarily those of Outdoor Life.

I’ve been friends with Jim for many years and have shared countless great times with him talking about both hunting and guns. While I totally support Jim’s right to express his point of view—this is his blog after all—I don’t happen to agree with him on this matter.

His position that AR- and AK-style rifles don’t have a place among our “sporting arms” is not one that I personally, or Outdoor Life as a magazine, happens to share.

In the six years that I’ve worked at Outdoor Life we have never wavered in our support of our Second Amendment rights, which don’t, and shouldn’t, make a distinction about the cosmetic look of the guns that we choose take to our local gun clubs or into hunting camp.

That said, I don’t expect every other hunter and sportsman out there to have a set of opinions that moves in lockstep with mine. So while I don’t share Jim’s view on this, I also know that he is still the same wonderfully talented and good-natured person he was before this post went up. For those of you who have followed him for all or part of his more than thirty years at Outdoor Life, I would ask you to bear that in mind before damning him with personal attacks.
