Accurate shooting from a bench

I prefer my caldweld deluxe front rest because. Has better adjustability and not all my guns can run my Mpod.

But I found you are only as good as your bench.

Definitely. Not a good feeling when you’re sitting on the attached seat and you see your POA move when you shift around in the seat. Nice concrete benches that require a separate seat are gold.

Short bipod on the front and sand bag at the rear, has worked for me for years, no need to change, mind you I have only shot out to 1410 yards so by today's standards that may not be long range anymore :ROFLMAO: mind you that's not rimfire but I do use the same for rimfire

Yeah, most rimfire long range shooters are not settling for any ranges less than 2000 m nowadays.

Here’s a Bi Pod rest made by Henry Remple in Alberta- Function’s Well and is Very Good quality . 👍 under $500 🤩

I find more than enough stability from a decent bipod and good rear bag.

I also though practice a significant amount shooting off just bags front and rear and also shooting unsupported but that’s just practice for ORPS shooting.

Hey good looking rig Jim , how does t attach ?

Where can a guy get one?
.... skwerl
Remple supplies the necessary proprietary hardware. That can be attached to your rifle several ways. I use T-nuts into a rail in both my Foundation stock and my Anschutz.

I can't imagine myself using a different bipod or rest. A one piece isn't in the cards for shooting prone right off the ground/snow.

I have picatinny rail on a couple of rifles and my S M12 BR has a t slot and Henry makes an adapter to it with a picatinny rail on it
Henry Remple . He’s also a Very Good Gunsmith too ! 👍

In my opinion when using a tripod, the legs should be 90 degrees to the bore! If they are angled either forward or backward as shown in many photos on here, the groups will suffer. Before some of you blow a gasket, which I know is gonna happen. Im not saying great groups cant be shot off a bipod with the legs tipped but better groups are available with the same gun with the legs 90 to the bore.
Alright, Im curious enough to request an explanation. ……??

Yes, likely should have been 'bipod' instead of 'tripod' in the 'first mention' of bipod. I think Beeron means "Why would angled bipod shoot worse than 90* (perpendicular ) ? "

Maybe bi pod was meant?
Your correct, my mistake. Bi pod is what was meant. The reason I said this was it creates a straighter recoil path which is important in shooting accurate groups. I experimented quite a bit and my groups were consistently smaller while the legs were 90 as opposed to different angles. If you look at F Class pods theyre all 90 to the bore. I just connected the dots and it worked so I stuck with it. For BR shooting I would still use a good rest and bag. I have recently used a Mystic M Pod and have shot some of my best groups, its light and very well made. Thanks to JERRY
