ACR Media and Info Thread

Guh, I can't wait for the Templar parts to get past CBSA and hit the buyers up here! I've got a lower backordered just to ensure I don't miss out.

What's this about adjustable gas block though? *ears perking up*

I'm in talks with Dana about a large order of Templar bits, like a group buy kinda thing. No worries with the import, Arms East has been taking great care of me.

Yes, an adjustable gas block, or more likely just a selection of variable port gas selectors, will be a drop in solution. You could swap the piston and selector with your various builds, saving hundreds of dollars, and opening up options for match barrels and various calibers.

Currently, WK-180 18.75 barrels are performing really well on one of my ACR's, with little modification. That's like a $220 dollar barrel, and fully approved and inspected by the RCMP, classified non restricted, even with that little extra engraving above the safety selector....

Stay tuned my ACR amigos, there's more to come.

What's the tape you are using to cover the MFT and mag extension?

I usually do a couple wraps of electrical tape; when dropping mags I'm prone to step on them(motor skills of a three year old I suppose....), and the tape just keeps that connection intact.

I've found the LAR-10+GS Designs extension is the best, most legal way to run pistol mags, with all the ergonomics of a 5/30 PMag. Mid you, when running range drills, I usually just load my carrier and belt with five mags, with 2-4 rounds each, which forces constant reload drills. I'll often throw a couple empty casings in there to simulate jams & malfunctions, to make training more fruitful.

The ACR in the photos only had like a hundred rounds through it, but my range baby has at least 20k through it now, and I've only had one jam from an improperly seated mag that was covered in dirt. One. All the ACR hate on the intraweb seems to stem from guys who've never had one, can't afford one, or don't know what the "U" and the "S" mean on the gas selector.

I love these things.

Caveat to your post: if you have a DLASK 18.5 barrel, you need to put it on S.

Changes are coming!

Next is a Templar G2 folding charging handle...

Heads up for anyone wanting a 45° safety core or metal safety detent; Ferni Lab has added Canada as a shipping location. Mine arrived yesterday, and with a little polishing of the detent, makes for a great improvement.

As mentioned above, Ferni Lab safety core and detent arrived, followed today by Radian Talon lever set.

Everything fits, but the detent arm and trigger box were tight enough to require polishing.

Have not gone to the range in a while, just been dry firing at home. Opened it up today and found this:

Searched online and saw someone else having the exact same issue after dry firing. Are these things not dry fire friendly?
No idea when this happened to me or if it still works like this, but good thing I have spare.
This is an OEM part.

Manufacturing issues, lemons exist. There's a firing pin on the EE if you want to keep shooting it, there's not many opportunities to fix it elsewise.

Which Surefire model and thread size is that? Did it fit perfectly without any modification?

The muzzle brake?

It's a SF556MB (the SOCOM compatible model) with standard 1/2x28" thread at the muzzle. Goes on without a problem, just needs to be timed with the provided shims.

If anyone missed it, Dana at Templar Precision has announced they've started production of their own upper, the Scythe.

By all appearances, this will be a drop-in replacement with a little weight reduction, and MLOK slots at the front end. All in all, bodes well for the future of the ACR.

can we get these? as a "firearm" dont they have to be registered for export? and as a side, RCMP to make it a machine gun to get an FRT

Time will tell. Templar Precision is effectively churning out parts 24/7 with the receivers just being announced, so might be a wait before they even have an opportunity to deal with exports.

Dana did mention he was communicating with his Canadian contacts about orders.
