1:7 will shoot 55gr well enough, but slower twist rates will be significantly more accurate.

The twist rate doesn't have much to do with accuracy at shorter ranges (less than 300yds), faster twist is needed to stabilize longer (heavier) projectiles at longer distances.

All that video shows is that if you use thin jacketed ultra high expansion varmint bullets you need to be cautious because they can come apart due to the high RPM's, if the same test was done with some loads below maximum safe loads or with a bullet with different construction there would be no problem.
Ultra light bullets are better suited to lower twist rate barrels but they can still be used in tight twist barrels if they are built to handle the RPM.

I'll have to try some of my 36 grain varmint grenade loads through my 1:8 twist AR and NR ACR. I don't have any 1:7 twist 223's anymore as I don't see the point of a barrel that tight on a rifle which is fed from AR mags since I can't load anything heavier than 77gr and have it feed from the mag. If I had a bolt action I was using for long range shooting I would definitely go with a 1:7 but for a semi I prefer 1:8 and my current 223 bolt is a 1:12 which flings the 36gr pills very well but isn't well suited for long range shooting.

Thread bump.
Anyone have any new pics or info?
I've been out of the country for a couple weeks so really need to get out to the range for some play time.

Does anyone have a list for a complete repair/rebuild kit? Mines got quite the round count on it and nothings failed yet but I feel like it will happen one day here. Like bolts/boltfaces firing pins, extractors, any and all springs, piston etc.
I'm pretty much looking for a parts kit. If anyone has a good list or can point me to a business that gets acr parts please let me know.

I'd also like to get a spare drop in barrel assembly (nr) so I'd need all those associated parts as well. Thanks in advance. I have no idea who deals with bushmaster anymore or who takes custom orders for parts.

Gravel agency is the only source of parts and they are very slow. Bushmaster hasn't been doing much the last couple years other than building the rifle. Parts are available but they just take a few months to get here.

Unless you are talking about twenty thousand rounds or more I wouldn't worry too much about parts. A couple thousand rounds is just broken in.

A spare non restricted drop in barrel assembly does not exist from the factory but Dlask makes one for $550 or you can have one built.

Is your rifle already non restricted? Let's see some pics.

With spare parts being slow to come that just more reason to get a kit going. Has no one had an issue with their acr yet? How would I get a hold of gravel agency? Has anyone ordered parts in the past?

My acr has about 7000 rounds through it that's why getting parts is coming to my mind, from what I've read in other rifles things like extractors start failing around that point, nothing yet fingers crossed but I don't want my go to rifle to be down for half a year or more waiting for parts AFTER something broke when I could have ready spares available, just my thought anyway.

The rifle is NR and one of the old Questar FDE and stainless nr bbl rifles, I assume the barrel parts were ripped off the factory 16" and put on the 18.5" once already. Once this barrel goes tearing those parts off again I feel would probably add extra wear to them and diminish accuracy or functionality/reliability of the new barrel. I know there is no factory 18.5" barrel assembly I shoulda been more clear I was wondering if anyone has brought in all new parts to put on a 18.5" barrel be it dlask or herron. I see some guys have got extra barrels made up i m just wondering where I can get the parts for the assembly to do so.

I'll upload photos once I get time its really nice I think its got a nightforce 2.4-10x on a spuhr mount with a fastfire2 mounted at a 45° an atlas bipod and a griffon m4sd2 comp. Works for my needs I like it.

Where to find Gravel Agency? You could try the internet and a thing called google. Sorry couldn't resist.

Swapping the gas system is easy and there is no wear and tear from doing it that would affect anything. I've had the gas system on and off my barrels numerous times and it fits perfectly every time.
It went on and off the 300BLK barrel many times during fitting and testing the barrel.

Yes people have ordered and gotten parts from gravel, my bolt for my 6.8 conversion took around 4 months if I remember correctly.

Is your 6.8 up and running ?

Not yet, been too busy to even think about working on it. Built another AR just before I went to Europe middle of last month and have been working since I got home.
I just have to work out the extractor and it will be finished. The bolt is opened up but the extractor is sitting a little too tightly and won't slip over the rim of the cartridge. I'm going to build it up a little under the front end of it and hopefully it works.
I'm going to finish my 300BLK op rod guide first then finish off the 6.8 kit. I plan to take a deer with my ACR this fall :)
