ACR Media and Info Thread

i have trouble hitting a 3' at 300m with mine :)

Optics. Good trigger. Good ammo. Knowing your ammo. Etc. Its doable. The Giessele w DMR barrel combo is definitely accurate. The stock trigger is pretty bad.

On ACR news looks like Franklin Armory bought Bushmaster. Hopefully this means they have interest in the ACR esp seeing as they make a binary tigger for it.

Here's hoping, I just picked up an ACR so if they pick up the Remington ACR V2 parts production we could get some neat stuff.

Well I've had a few range days with my ACR now, and I'm glad I snapped it up.

Here's some ####;

I preferred the regular Magpul handguard, and have the long PTS model on its way (hopefully picking up a heatshield for it too).

Gonna take it out some more this week

What is the point of this trunnion and their AL lower?
Just lighter weight? Plus ability to add AR pistol grips to the lower?

It marginally reduces the weight and possibly add more stiffness to the attachment of the barrel. I personally think it is a better way of affixing a barrel with a torqued on barrel nut.

The lower being aluminum is heavier but it is way ###ier and useful being able to swich out pistol grips imo

Additionally if you're having accuracy issues because of the QD lever loosening off over a range day, changing the trunnion out can fix that.

I'm grabbing one to see if it will tighten up groups.

Thought the quick barrel change was one of the main features of this rifle lol. Never thought to pay more to get rid of the feature.
Interested to see what it does for your groups though.

The lower does look nice, but not worth the price to me.

Out of the whole process, the biggest PITA was getting the gas block off. Took a lot if whacks

Gotta pick up my range membership next weekend and see how it groups.

This is probably a noob question; if there is a resource I’ve missed please show me the way. But does that trunnion allow the use of a more conventional AR barrel, if you can find a rod guide with the proper dimensions?

Only problem with buying an AR barrel off-the-shelf is the gas port is often too large for the ACR. Anyone making their own barrels may be able to help, though it'll need the guide band cutout aswell.

Otherwise it's the same interface at the trunnion.

How did your groups go with the new trunnion?

I’d say that going from 3 down to 2 MOA is actually very significant; it’s no match grade target rifle, but 2 MOA means that 300yd shots on coyotes is reasonable, and a 3 minute gun it’s really not. So I’d call that a win in my books.

I’m assuming you just used the same barrel as before? I am having some issues with flyers with my ACR. Sometimes it holds a respectable group, but for example, I had some 77gr berger OTMs I shot the other day; of a ten shot group seven of them went into a little over an inch, but 3 of them opened it up to 6+” at 100yds. I’m wondering if that trunnion would maybe be the solution to that issue. I don’t believe it was the ratchet slacking off; it was shot 4,7,9 or something that made such a gross departure from the rest of the group. But maybe it is the ratchet, and at this point I don’t know what to think. Same ammo in my sporter used to shoot about 1” at 100yds with ten rounds; so accurate it was nearly boring. But then, that sporter would do that with most match bullets, so maybe trying to replicate that is going to be impossible. I’d sure like to have a rifle that I could trust on an 8” target at 400yds, but so far I’m starting to loose hope with the ACR.

It's the same gov't profile barrel it came with. When I first got mine I also used a closed tine Surefire device that caused the barrel to flex from the porting (and I had my lady taking slow mo video while shooting so I could see it).

I had some issues with mine rebounding spent brass back in to the ejection port, but that was rectified by just removing the deflector.

Thanks; I’ll try pulling the muzzle device off and see what it does. It’s currently got a port/brake setup that seems like it could be causing similar issues? I’ll try a bare muzzle and maybe also a birdcage flash hider and see what happens. Thanks for that, gives me something to start with anyway. Also, where did you source that new trunnion in Canada? Did you just order it from Templar in the states? Or is there a Canadian importer?

I got lucky and found it already landed in Canada in the EE. But you can go through Templar and get their stuff imported with IRG. Last time I talked with them they were sending packages to IRG usually once a month to come up here.

My rem 30 ar converted acr is a 1moa gun with factory ammo, my 7.62x39 converted acr is close with premium brass cased ammo. Both retain the quick change trunion and no issue with it backing off or loosening with the much heavier recoil.

I don't consider myself any kind of marksman either, so when I see people posting horrible results from the acr, there has to be an issue or multiple issues of some kind because the platform is capable.
