AIA's 7.62 x 39mm M10A2 Carbine - Pics

i'll take the full sized 308 version please. i think i would much rather have the cz 527 or the remington 799 over the version shown in this thread.

hopefully we aren't in for sticker shock.

7.62x39..... ewwww
Yeah it does smell funny, don't it? :p

I like the look of this thing and the calibre. I don't think it really compares to the Rem 799 or the Norinco Bush Ranger. Those two just look like plain bolt actions to me. This looks like an Enfield jungle carbine! Price will be the determining factor but whether or not we can have a 10 round mag will make a huge difference. Tell me we wouldn't all be lining up for one even at $600.00 if they are legal with a 10 round mag? I know I would, anyway. ;)

$600??

It looks like it was put together by Norinco...

$200 or $300, I could see that.

Awe, c'mon, it doesn't look that bad! One of these with a legal 10-round mag would sell for more than one of those Norinco JW-103's I think. Although $200 would be very nice! :D

what is the big deal about a 10 round magazine in a bolt action? my LE#5 already has one.

unless the price is right i won't be buying one. if it is ~$600 i will be taking a pass.

I'm not lying - they are already in-country ;)

As for price, I can't comment simply because I don;t knwo the answer yet. They won't be $200 or $300 though - I guarantee that much. They are NEW MANUFACTURE and not made in some 2-bit communist cheapo labor country.

They're at least assembled in Australia by workers making comparable wages to what we make here for firearms manufacture. probably from parts likely sourced all over the place.

But they won't be chinese cheap - forget that right out. Also, they aren;t using surplus parts - all newly made steel and wood. That also won;t help the end price I think.

We'll see what they sell for when the dealer(s) post them in the next little while. Anything else is just speculation.

What do you want for your #5? Do you hunt with it or just plink? Oh, yeah, is it in 7.62 x 39? I just offered an opinion that this should be a desirable gun based on chambering and the 10 round mag. Yes, $600 is high and I hope it's closer to $400 but I can honestly say I will likely buy one up to the $600 range if it offers a 10 round mag. ;)
Oh, also, I'm an idiot... :D

What a lovely little rifle. I'd buy forsure. I'm going to be hunting deer this fall in a fairly populated area here in southern Ontario. I'm in the market for a downsized caliber rifle right now(Ruger deerfield carbine or something). 7.62x39 isnt my first choice, but I love the look of that rifle!
Rugged piece of kit.

And the reason a 10 round magazine is desirable is????????
Because! :p

Seriously, Gatehouse, I know you own quality stuff and I have some, too. But, this is a cool little gun in a "cheapo Commie milsurp ammo" calibre with the possibility of an over-stuffed mag looking like a Lee Enfield. You don't think it will sell? I do.
To answer your question, a ten round mag on a bolt action means nothing, really, unless you are a seriously bad shooter... other than that, the "cool" factor, or when faced by many zombies...
I guess we'll see, right?

Wherever they are made, they don't look like they are worth $600.;)

Well it sure will make using the standard stripper clips handy.

I am not *against* a ten round mag for anyhting..I am not against a 30 round mag, either. I just dont see why such a mag would be a selling point in a bolt action rifle that will primarily be used as a plinker or a short range deer rifle.

I think it will sell, if it is inexpensive enough. But when I open a catalogue these days, or browse CGN, I can find lots of rifles in the $600-$700 range that are probbaly a better rifle to train and/or hunt with.

If the attraction is that it can use cheap SKS ammo, then I suggest that a person spend $320 on a Stevens rifle (or a good qulity used rifle) and spend he othr $300 on some reloading gear, and have cheap ammo forever....;)

Is the barrel new, or is it an original barrel with the chamber area cut short, and rechambered to 7.62x39mm? If this is the case, it would be done to use the same (roughly) diameter bore, .310-.311 dia.
So that would rule out a .308 Win chambering on the old barrel.
Just thinking out loud here, maybe way off track.

My feeling exactly! I love the looks of it...particularly the wooden handguard over the top of the barrel.

I'll buy one if I have the money on hand when they become available...as usual with me, it won't be a conscious decision about whether "It's worth it" so much as simply whether I can financially do it at the time or not.

Being able to fire 7.62X39 in it is FANTASTIC!

Jeff.

Actually, I know the .308 ones are here, but I'm not 100% sure if the 7.62x39 ones are or not. We'll see soon enough ;)

Claven...How soon, any idea? I'm drooling here...:p :D - Jeff.

By the way, these are like the Lee Enfield, I assume and #### upon the bolt closing - correct?

Aside from bridge geometry they work the same as a No.4Mk2 enfield. The bridge has been changed to facilitate scope mouning.

As for timing, I assume within the next couple of weeks. We shall see.
