All-New: Type 81M

A "Krink" version would be restricted because of barrel length. This would, of course, facilitate confiscation.
Does anyone think that these T81s will escape the next round of prohibitions based on Justin's "evergreen" classification principle?
Better work to bring about a change in government.

That's why I no longer buy restricted firearms. The non restricted ones will vanish quite easily. Given the direction the world is headed, its very probable you will need them.

So I had my T81M underfolder to the range yesterday. It ran great as expected. Groupings were fine I figure somewhere around 5 and change MOA, could hit a 12 inch target if I wasn’t a screwing around too much just off hand.

The stock is actually fine to shoot and use, but certainly need a glove for the grip because that assembly is right over the top and will bite into your hand for sure. You can see on underfolder AK the stock mount assembly is behind the grip compared to the 81. The extended sight radius made it a lot easier to focus on targets down range and hold over more reliably.

The slant comp seemed to work pretty well! I liked it a lot actually I wonder now how effective the 74 style brake would be. Probably pretty effective.

The sites were good for windage from factory but I did need to lower the front sight post just a tad to get it on. Weirdly, the first five rounds down the barrel were bang on and the rest went low afterwards. Maybe a barrel heating thing? Hard to say. I fired around 200 rounds to get the gun broken in and will be shooting this one a lot.

One thing I noticed was on disassembly the recoil spring rear assembly that sits in the back of the receiver - it isn’t very smooth in and out to remove that recoil spring. I feel like it will need to be broken in. Removing the dust cover was a pain, I had to use a brass punch and tap it with a mallet lightly to release the button, and it didn’t snap right back into place I had to give it a good wack to get that assembly to slide back.

My other T81 isn’t like this, but like I said it could be the parkerizing wearing down and just needs to get worn on so the edges have no friction/ material to bind on. My blonde SA version that is blued doesn’t do this.

Oh and the finish is absolutely going to get scratched and worn down all over the rifle, try not to sweat that it looks sweet with some patina already. I am seriously considering buying another that’s how enjoyable this rifle is!

I think it looks much nicer with the non black bolt.

Just a heads up I just did a closer over look on my under folder, my front trunion where the barrel sits in (hopefully that is correct terminology) is actually cracked just right infront where the cartridge enters.

My fixed stock has a similar marking but not as bad in the exact same spot, so I’m not sure now if this is just how the metal was constructed, Is someone else able to maybe check their rifles.

Came with a little damage as well, but not going to bother complaining....
Think the deciding factor will be the stock.. can't get used to the wobble on the underfolder, feels cheap,
Any way to tighten it up?
The side folder is so much nicer that way.

**** Would like to edit this, after punching out the pin and tightening the nut my side folder has 0 slop or play. Think the decision is going to be tough.. the original sa is less barrel heavy... and a nicer color wood.. but otherwise the new one looks better.****

Also ti is sending a new grip for the damge. Kudos to them

Wanted to bump this... incase others have a sloppy stock, you can tighten it.
