All-New: Type 81M

Canada post left a pick up tag in my mailbox yesterday saying where to pick it up today. Went to the post office and they didn't have it. Says try monday. GRRRRR.

Now THAT sucks!

Maybe the postie left it in the back of the delivery truck and didn't drop it off at the local depot for you to pick up... (My guess is they are NOT allowed to do that? Can anyone confirm?)

OR, the postie at your depot hadn't scanned the package in yet AND IT'S IN THE BACK ROOM because they are too damn lazy!!!

I'd call & ask for them to look for it in the pile...

Few thoughts about the "longer than usual" shipping times:

People need to realize, that the blame for this phenomena should rest squarely with our political system.

After the OIC announcements, if someone said that we will be able to get an AK-ish style rifle with and underfolder at a reasonable price some 3 years later, I would say that those people were nuts....and yet here we are.

First off..cudos to TI for being able to pull this off.

Second...all of you whining about how long it takes...what exactly are you comparing it with?
South of the border??
Large stock of Savage bolt guns at Cabela's, which nobody is really lining up for??

If so, then you need to realize, that in the US, people are not starving for that AK look...they can get it virtually anywhere and there are multiple distributors of these rifles.
This means that there are no stampedes to get them.

Here on the other hand, TI is the only enterprise that brings these in (as far as I'm aware) and when a shipment of something like this comes in, the ensuing mayhem is to be expected.

Sure some of you say "hire the extra staff"..etc.
But you need to realize, that the main purpose of any business is to generate profit.

Sure...assuming that TI could get past the hurdle of the un-easy task of finding and training the extra people for the shipping (and they did just that), they would likely need to hire hundreds of extra staff (assuming their warehouse can even accomodate them)...and for what?

They are already 100% guaranteed to sell every single one of these rifles, even if they only had just one guy shipping them out...sure it might take a couple of years, but they would sell them nevertheless..

Essentially this means, that any extra staff member that is temporarily hired only for the sole purpose of shipping them out faster, translates into less profit for TI.

I'm not in any way shape or form affiliated with TI, but I can completelly understand their logic of trying to find some type of a middle ground, where people still wait longer than usual, but in the end they will get something, that could only be described, as a Somali warlord on a moped type of a vibe, which was not really possible up till now.

Bottom line is, if I was in charge of the TI operation, I would not be as nice at they are.
I would tell everyone they have 2 options:

1) Your order will be ready when it's ready, regardless of time lapsed.

2) Feel free to get one elsewhere.

It would be much better if they “weren’t as nice” and told everyone clearly up front that people are likely to wait a month or more.

You are absolutely right that they have the monopoly on this market and can deal with it however they see fit. They have chosen the path of profits over customer retention, trusting in the monopoly over their own reputation.

A company operated like TI will make lots of short term profits but will be greatly upset (disrupted) if there is any direct competition in the space. I can tell you with absolute certainty that consumers prefer to purchase specialty goods from somewhere that provides fast shipping and quick and effective customer service. They will even pay more for it. Why do you think people are buying these on GP for more money than TI? Gee I dunno, maybe because you can ask questions and get replies, and it will ship within a day or two of paying.

This drives me too lol. It is almost definitely sitting in the back of the PO waiting to be processed. And I’ve never had a CP employee willing to go look when this happens to me. It’s always “can’t - policy” or “too busy sorry” even if I’m the only person in there.

I've literally pointed out my package in the bin before & they've sheepishly scanned it in & then given it to me.

If you download the CP app, you can scan the bar code on your delivery slip, or enter your tracking number for more detailed information. It’ll even text you when they scan it. As soon as my stuff gets scanned I’m at the Post in 5 minutes.

If it says “Delivering to Post Office” then the Office likely has it but hasn’t scanned it yet.

Not defending anyone here, and don’t wanna to sound selfish since I got my UF in 2 weeks exactly, ordered on March 13 …2793X, but this is my second order from TI, I bought a Famae 542 way back in 2015, and communications were top notch and they were extremely quick to ship. Keep in mind that I’m anal about how fast I will get my stuff, and usually will offer to pay for faster and more secure shipping than Canada Post.
I think they were really overwhelmed with the volume…and let’s be honest, had they told everyone they might have to wait a month, people would have ordered anyway

I think that most people already knew what they were getting into, as this same story repeats itself every time TI get a shipment of something cool..
I already knew that my rifle will not be arriving anytime soon and I'm ok with that.

As far as people getting them on GP, paying extra $ to the scalpers is their individual choice of course, but remember that those scalpers also had to wait quite a bit before they got theirs.

Also, I'm willing to bet that a lot of people on GP are completelly clueless, as to where these rifles came from.

This is evident by the outrageous prices some people are charging for items, that are sometimes freely available at half the cost...but they buy them anyway.
A great exampe is this guy that sells mostly used magazines on GP and charges literally double (or more) of what they are worth...yet people still buy them.

If I remember correctly, he was selling a used Ruger 10/22 mag (available virtually everywhere for around $35) for something like $70...so bringing up the fact that "people will rather buy them on GP" does not carry much weight these days, as lot of people are completelly ignorant to what
is reasonable, what is available and where.

Not True, I can,nt sell mine for any more than I paid, for it, I lowered price to less than I paid, still Crickets..

I had emailed TI a couple of times due to some questions I had with my order. They responded back in a pretty timely manner.

However, I didn't receive a notification that my rifle had been shipped out. When I later asked TI what the status of my order was, they told me the rifle had been shipped and had been sitting at the post office for 3 days.

So, for people still waiting for a shipping notification email and if you feel the timeline is getting pretty long ... perhaps it's best you email TI to see what's going on.

And no, the shipping email was not in my junk folder nor do I use an Apple email address.

Ordered the 15th, picked it up at the PO yesterday.
Straight....most likely, clean and ready to rock.
Yeah the underfolder is not the most practical and high speed version of the T81 but it's still wicked cool.
I definitely do not like the square lower hand guard but oh well. Dont care. I've been keeping it folded on the couch just for the warlord vibes.

That’s the best way to enjoy the folder - quality time on the sofa while watching anti-Turd YouTube videos.

Heck! Even if it’s bent - I had a gf who had one eye a bit higher than the other. If you just tilted your head right… IT’S FINE!

Cheers and enjoy!

I didn’t say everyone is doing this. I’m just saying lots of people have. People on this very thread have admitted to it. Out of impatience, dislike for TI or whatever other reason, they have specifically searched for them on the used market and are OK to pay the same or more. If you flip thru the pages you will see. Maybe PM one of those guys.

Exactly, if there is disclosure, there is nothing to be upset about. For the guys who have waited over a month with no update? I understand how that’s frustrating. In my mind it is unacceptable to have a delay that literally doubles the wait time and not communicate with your customer. I’m referring to when they ran out of accessories and it took two weeks for them to move magazines, slings and brakes from one province to the other. And then they just left everyone wonder what was going on.

You guys defending this may “accept it”, but no one can say that as a customer you would prefer this over having updates from the vendor. Or the vendor offering to compensate in a small way to make up for it. Or the vendor shipping orders separately instead of making people wait for their screw up to be corrected. It’s just bad service man.

Why is it that I knew I'd probably wait a month before getting it? Might have been simple logical thinking... Can't remember.

Only if you look her into her eyes. I am not the biggest fan of so called perfect girls, at the end of the day character counts the most.

.

Was your rifle actually sitting at the post office? TI not providing a tracking number is one thing, but did CP not notify you either? :/

Picked my underfolder up from the post office today. Ordered the 16th 288xx so just under a month.

Unboxed this evening and I am thrilled.
  • seems very straight. The hole in the receiver is almost perfect with the barrel.
  • wasn’t difficult to clean the oil etc. off and the orange wood is growing on me. I’ll probably still refinish, but is better than expected.
  • cheek weld on underfolder feels fine. Not sharp and no problem with sight height. TBD if I feel the same at the range, but is much better than I expected.
  • all accessories were there (extra mag and slant brake)
It was tough to cycle the bolt at first (despite well oiled), but surprisingly after a dozen or so times manually cycling the bolt it started to feel smooth.

Thanks TI - my first order from you and I’m very happy!
