I saw a uniformed RCMP buy some 30.06 and .22lr at CT, probably on his lunch break lol with the clerk carrying the goodies to the front in a security pouch, I guess the clerk didn’t trust the Mountie to take it to the till, not sure if the asked the cop for his pal?
 
That sounds like a hougen-move 👍. stocking what is difficult to be e-ordered is a good community move, and I bet the powders are the fast-movers.
trying to stock all of the possibles in bullets and brass is probably very onerous in a large market let alone a small one like the YK

Back in the day Mail Order was the Amazon or Temu of the day and CT along with Sears and Woodwards and Eatons all provided a valueable service.

It's all good. I'm sure all the Canadian Tires across Canada all did there own thing. Just brought me back to the good old days that the young generation knows nothing of.

Yeah, in Calgarystan, Cambodian Tire Southland (EDIT: McLeod South) has a 'uuuuuge collection of ammo, including spam cans and (in the past) surplus NATO - no such thing as surplus NATO anymore :D as well as really good selection of firearms and reloading stuff as well. Another good one is at Shag and Crowchild. They carry a large variety of cartridges.

I use to work for them and know the big boys personally one of them being the head manager of all the stores( sports experts, coast mountain sports and hougens) and he said it is impossible to satisfy customers in the reloading department, what is in stock is never what people wants hahaha.
So now all of it is 20% off other than powders and primers that they will try to keep bringing in as long as they can!
Retail is a hard business especially in the firearms business, they are sitting on a lot of banned inventory so lots of money tied up there!!
 
I checked out the CT on McLeod South in Calgary. The prices I thought were really good and they had a excellent selection of ammo. The fellow showed me more rifles than I could handle and was excellent to deal with. Definitely going to be purchasing more there in the future.
 
Cdn Tire Prices in Yorkton are similar to Cabelas. At least there is a Pro Shop here and a good selection of powder, bullets, ammo , etc. CO-OP also has ammo.

The Olds CDN Tire has an absolutely pathetic guns & ammo section, for a small rural town.

The Olds UFA has a very small ammo section but it reflects the ammo types that will be most in demand by farmers etc. Makes perfect sense. And no, they don't have 32 Special or 38-55. :rolleyes:

Yes. Best CDN Tire guns / ammo section I've ever run into. I lived in S Calgary and so go used to that place being nearby. Every other CDN Tire pales in comparison ... which is sad.

They'd be my go to, except they're just down the street from CSC (a site sponsor), so I go there more often.
 
I haven't been there in 9 years, but the CT in Langford, BC at one time had a great selection of ammo, and would bring in pretty much anything you wanted. When I get back out there later this year I'll swing by and see how it is now.
 
I don't even consider CT as a reliable hardware store, never mind a place to buy guns or ammo. Just not been my experience. It's like they only understand how to sell jugs of oil, bags of plant food, picnic coolers and individual household cleaning items.
