Another CZ vs Savage...................sorry

Gee Alberta Boy...we have shot a ton of gophers with our two Mkll's (around Edmonton)
And my 93FVSS has taken more than it's fair share of coyotes.
And I've never experienced your problem.
Nor has anyone else it seems.
Kinda points to the shooter...not the gun.
This is why the internet has become such a minefield for newbies trying to make informed decisions...too many people spreading misinformation because they got a burr up their derriere.

If you slap the bolt down with finger and thumb so that it makes a two stage sound (if you know what I mean), it will not trip the trigger. If you push the bold handle with just one finger forward hard and fast so that it goes forward and down going fast enough that it only makes a single sound (there are two sounds, with enough speed it seems like one), the trigger will lock up.

I'm sure it's not that your rifles are immune to the problem, you maybe just aren't replicating the motion exactly. Since this is the motion you would typically make while shooting properly without taking the rifle from your shoulder and looking for a quick follow up shot, it's a big problem.

If you're shooting gophers here in Alberta and are looking for quick shots on multiple targets, the rifle is utterly unsuitable as the trigger will usually be locked when you try to squeeze it. An old cooey 60 is more reliable and suitable.

I guess the Savage is okay when used at the range... if the scope base holes aren't misaligned as they usually are. Even then, I guess they're okay as long as you're shooting at a fixed range.

But maybe you guys are right. They're probably totally awesome quality pieces. I have one for sale. Really cheap. Any takers? ;)

My rimfire savages are primarily gopher guns and Have killed many gophers with quick follow up shots. All of my savages are used for hunting. Saskatchewan has gophers too...But you have such a severe case of rectal cranium disease that you may not know where Saskatchewan is. I noticed your fairy tale went from closing the bolt with your index finger...to "slapping" the bolt shut and then back to " one finger hard and fast ". Which is it?

All of the above. Close the bolt hard with one finger as you would while working it from the shoulder.

Look, I get that you guys don't happen to do this and so you don't see the problem. It doesn't change the fact that it exists.

The problem is acknowledged by Savage themselves.

I can replicate it on ANY Mark 2 period and including the ones I've replicated it on store shelves, have done with, I'd estimate, around 20 rifles (out of 20).

I don't know what you mean about Mall Ninja 'dead meat'. I'm a hunter.

I frequently work in Saskatchewan. I know where it is.

Yep. It is amazing how he KNOWS..for a FACT. that everyone of us, who own these rifles have the same problem with ours. Even those us that try and replicate his scenario. I hope that one day, I can be as smart as ALBERTABOY.

You might be so lucky. :D Seriously though, the trigger will trip with a smooth combination of forward pressure and downward pressure. You have to replicate that 'single sound' that I talked about earlier. Simply slamming the bolt straight down won't do it.

Odd that someone mentioned they couldn't find anything online. I did a quickly google search and found a dozen pages talking about it...

Believe me...I do not want to be as smart as you.

Well, I'm selling the rifle without the bases. I couldn't use them as the holes are not drilled remotely correctly so it's an iron sight rifle only.

I am done with this thread gone silly... but seriously, since you can't use those bases and have no intention of using Savage rifles anymore, why not do one of the Savage guys a solid and pass them on... stainless factory bases anyone?

I've tried to reproduce all of Alberta Boys claims related to The Accutrigger using all 5 of my rifles that have it to no avail. He has made it more than clear in multiple threads that he has an extreme hatred of Savage, his opinion on the matter really doesn't equate to much as far as I'm concerned since I have not been able to see any proof of his grandiose claims.

Another CZ vs Savage.....................Sorry

Heavy on the........................SORRY This thread took a wrong turn when I made my choice. I may end up later down the road with something the next step up in the thousand dollar range but for now I think I will be happy with the Savage in SS. I have not heard of the trigger problem here or any other site and can only think if Savage was aware of it they would fix it. I don't think they are in the business of pissing people off with malfunctioning products. I would also think this is a safety problem they want nothing to do with.

Thank all of you who chimed in, I appreciate it.

Exactly. And I have tried it with with 5 of my accutrigger savages and have also tried to reproduce crap he claims in other threads and mine work perfectly fine. Even though he says they don't.

To the OP. Im sure your Savage will work just fine for you. Happy shooting ! :)

Both of my Savage rimfires have the factory original stocks on them and they are both Boyds stocks.

The bottom rifle!!! That stock me want! I always wondered if savage made a rifle exactly like that! I couldn't look any more so I bought a BV! But would love that stock for my FVSR!

I couldnt agree more... That is a thing of beauty right there!

Albertaboy, why don't you make a quick video of you locking up 2 or 3 Savage triggers and post it here? I'm shopping for a savage, and I'd like to see exactly what you're talking about.

It's for the wife, so chances are she won't be "vigorously" operating the bolt and it'll be a non-issue, but I'd like to see what the problem is.

I have a savage with an accutrigger. I have cut springs, polished sears, etc. and adjusted the pull from 2.5 lbs right down to just over 1 lb. I have closed the bolt as vigorously as practically possible and not once have I EVER had an issue with the rifle. After a little time put in setting it up how I like it I am incredibly happy with it and so glad I saved the extra cash instead of buying a cz. It's also far more accurate than I could ever be shooting off of even a prone bipod.
