Antique Photos--Post what you got

Strange cartouche(s) on this Martini

I bought this Martini about 4 years ago. It came with its original sling and even had its ramrod. There are some unusual cartouches on the butt stock and was wondering if anyopne could ID them.

nessy357,
All my appologies , Did not want to break the rules Just wanted to be fair to my fellow gunnuts by letting them know that it was now advertized in EE as I had been asked to let them know if I ever wanted to let it go.

Sorry again :( :( :(!!!

I love those Colts. (I miss mine a bunch) They seem a very stong design.
Are you using a bronze coloured filtre on the camera or have you special lights? Nice effect anyway!

Heres my Sneider conversion enfield "please pardon all the grease I keep all my arms heavily coated while they are in the arms cabinet not being used."helps me to sleep at night"

This one has never been to india, and was alot of good fun stripping and restoring.

She was built for the portugese market, and either before she was sold to them or after she was rather well cut down into carbine length.

She had alot of rust on the face of the lock when she first arrived, and the barrel uppers had a bit of rust, the underside was pristene.

Now all the rust is gone and there is some minor piting on the outside of the barrel all exposed steel has been cold blued "but not heavily as not to give her the fishnets on a 80 year old hooker look, but tastefully done to reflect her age.

Her bore and chamber are pristene with much rifling present and the lock innards are perfect almost like new!!
Lock up is rock solid, I am looking foward to taking her camping this fall!!

Cheers

Musket fire, very nice photo. This fall take the same photo out in the woods camping.

I am surprised we don't see even more interest in the carbine length big bores of yesteryear they are just so darn nice to carry! Does it have a good trail carry balance point? or do you just craddle it in your arm all the time LOL.
Nice work on bringing it back into the sunshine.

She does have a nice balance, Im still waiting on some brass to try her out.
I want to build a thick leather scabbard for my rucksack to fit her in."that will be a winter project"

I will be taking pictures of her by the fire this fall.

I think most shy away from the carbine big bores is the kick from standard loads.
The longer and heaver arms seem to absorb more recoil when shooting off hand.

The thing I like about the sneiders straight cartridge is I will be able to load it down with roundball to save my shoulder.

Im really excited to see how this one shoots!!!!

Cheers
