Any news on the Krinkov style vz-58? (Updated Pic on Page 10)

I want something Chromed so that I don't have to worry about rust!!!!! John, any chance there is a non-restricted that has more than the barrel that is Chromed? IE - also the Gas Port....

Lets be clear, there are four (4) new variants of the Vz-58 rifles, nothing that we have sold in the past....
We have the first production run leaving Europe tomorrow, expect here in Canad this week end (Dec20).
I have a few pictures we took at the plant if interested....

Chrome rusts.
It's easier to clean and a little more "wear" resistant compared to a non-chromed bore - it'll definitely rust if you don't clean it after shooting the corrosive ammo.

How would such a short barrel affect ballistics? Many Russians in Afghanistan disparaged the Krinkovs. They wanted a longer barrel to squeeze all the energy they could from the little 5.45 round.

i werent guessing , this info has been circulating since june 5th and nobody said any different , till now .

Just confirmed, I called Marstar (june 5) ,

They will be getting about 1oo each of the following:

VZ shorty (Krinkov style)
VZ restricted like they have now
VZ non restricted
and one with updated style furniture


I put my name on the list for the shorty and the non restricted model, so nows the time to secure one, as they sell fast.

I was told the exact same thing when I phoned to order my VZ 58 from Marstar in early summer. I hesitated because I was told they were coming in "shortly" and the krink was tempting, but went ahead and ordered what they were currently carrying.

1) Is the Krinkov furniture synthetic or wood?
2) Is the one with updated furniture got synthetic or wood furniture? Is it restricted?
