I have had some excellent results with the 168 hornady match in my supermatch M1A . None of this 30 min to shoot 5 rounds bs . with good ammo and when I do my part my M1A will shoot MOA 10 shot groups out to 300 . 10 shots 2 minutes max . Enjoy the rifle i love mine
You mean a 3 inch 10 shot group at 300 yards in 120 seconds? A shot every 12 second? Did you count all 10 shots in your accuracy report? 12 seconds is not enough time for the barrel to get back to the same temperature as your first shot, effects will be cumulative in deterioration! The rifling grooves have expended, the length of the barrel has expanded, diameter of the bore has expanded, combustion formula is different as ambient air in the chamber is quite hot, density of air in the barrel has changed as hot air is substantially not as dense as cold air, everything is quite substantially different from the 1st shot, all effects are cumulative in deterioration. Even the slighest disparities in barrel and chamber at 300 yards will make a vast difference in grouping, 300 yards is a long long way.
What about shooter fatigue, what about breathing, 120 seconds is quite a tight time frame to have the same shots fired at the same lung capacity expansion. Shoulder position, 120 seconds for 10 shots is also tight to have the same shoulder position, grip, trigger, etc...
I don't understand how you can get a 1 moa group from that many disparities unless you can quickly measure those disparities and compensate, which if you can, means you belong on the Canadian Olympic Shooting team. If so please inform us how you compensate with calculations so that you shots still stay within 1 moa at 300 yards with factory ammo no less...
Ballistically your comment just doesn't meet my common sense meter, sorry.
I'm just plain tired of all these world class sub moa shooters on this site, do you all have 12 inch #####es too? I find I'm having a very good day with 2 to 3 moa, generally I'm happy if I get a 3 to 4 inch group at 100 yards.
I'm not saying that some of you are not exceptional shooters, yes I agree some of you maybe 4% to 5% of the shooters on this site are absolutely great marksmen, but not 95%, and certainly not with a norinco ar or a m305 that doesn't make any sense at all. And usually those remarkable shooters actually never boast about their skills.
