Anyone *like* 1911 in 9mm?

All i can say is different budget for different folks.
I am far from making big bucks at work, but wish to compete wit an USA 1911.
Sure some guys will do good with China or a Spartan made in the Philippines, comes down to personnal choice.
I should of said, STI trojan is probably the best bang for your buck among the USA made 1911s

I dont really mind a 9mm in 1911... For myself i dont need one in this configuration... But i did buy a 1911 in 357 Mag ( Coonan) so variations are ok... Just saying... JP.

+1 i agree. Lot's of people will say 1911s arent that reliable in 9mil, but they are ammo/magazine dependent to be reliable. Once you get this down you can shoot thousands of rounds without a hiccup.
When i had a 9mm 1911, the way to run it was FMJs and Metalform mags. Best reliability to be found.
If i should go back to 1911 9mm tomorow for whatever the reason, i think the STI trojan would be the best bang for the buck.
A good base to start a build anyways.

This. Also, the cat's meow for 1911 9mm mags now are Cobra Tripp. My Sentry is purring like a kitten and running like a cheetah. :D

Maybe the new cobra tripps are better, myself and 2 very reputable IPsC shooters (which i cant name since these are public forums), have had loads of feeding problems with tripp cobra 9mm. We all went Metalform and never looked back.

I now shoot classic major, in .40 i have found that tripp cobra is the way to go. Love my tripp mags in .40 (mags are in 10mm for long loads)

Never heard bad things about Metalform. Cheers

i only use Tripp mags - I've got both the 9mm and .40 1911... Mag related issues are near zero. Not exactly zero because mag springs weaken and feed lips spread...

I ran into a S&W M&P in 9mm at the range one time. Neither me nor the owner could shoot that thing worth a damn. Seemed totally random as to where it would go. Are 9mm M&P's any good? I am sure more than a few people have had great success with them.

I don't know why your 9mm 1911 is not working for you. Hard to say. I know that my 9mm 1911 works great so far. Do I like a 1911 in 9mm? Honestly if a person handloads 9mm to its true velocities the 1911 platform works great. I don't know what is puny about firing a 124gr bullet at 1200fps. Sure its not as macho sounding, but its half the cost.

Nothing wrong with my NP-29, function and accuracy wise. I let it go because I had too many 9mm (M&P, CZ85, BHP).

My M&P Pro ended up being my go to 9mm. Having said that, it is decked out with an Apex SRT etc.

I was never a fan of 1911's in anything but .45 but a pal let me shoot his STI in 9mm at the range a couple of years back and I shot a sub 2" 3 shot group at 20 yds offhand and nearly sh%t my drawers. Great gun. I don't remember what model it was but it had a chrome or stainless finish. Beautifully fitted gun too. Would love to shoot it again sometime. LOL Made me a believer.

Not to derail the thread so this will be my only comment on it but some work. Some are a complete mess accuracy-wise.
