Anyone planning a move if election is unfavorable?

I've said it many times before, move to Northern Canada somewhere, it's still Canada up here, small town values, most people own firearms, great hunting and fishing, 1950's type values. Sure, there's limited shopping opportunities, and some drug problems, but at least everyone knows who the meth heads are, and after they break into your vehicle, you can go to their residence and demand your items back under threat of a beating, and they usually comply, lol.
Exactly 100%.

I live in the hinterlands of Ontario. If I want to go shooting I dont have to look for a range, I just find a local gravel pit on crown land and shoot away. I could even probably get away with shooting my restricted if I wanted but it's only a 5k drive from my house to a legal range and I am usually the only one there. I have all the shopping I need and otherwise everything is only a click and a few days away. I can't remember the last time I thought I needed to go to a bigger centre to buy anything. I am within 30 minutes from hooking up the trailer to dropping a line in a lake out of my boat and that includes travel. If you are in the right place in Canada there is no more free place on earth to do whatever you want.

Why would I leave?

I don't plan on leaving anytime soon. Still 20 years from retirement, and my job is fairly recession proof. Plus all my friends and family are here. Worst thing that happens with future governments is I'll just have to find more secluded places to go shooting.

Welcome to the forum.

You are going to get some very mixed replies.

Canada has certainly changed tremendously over the last decade, and imho, not for the better.

The issue is, where does one go? Immigration to other countries can be immensely difficult, unlike to Canada where citizenship comes in a cornflakes box.

Also other countries have also changed. I know some Canadian/American (dual citizens) who are also forum members here, and they would never think about moving to the USA now. They have some major social issues down there, their education is abysmal, crime is very high, etc. None of that will get fixed anytime soon. Also some of their firearms laws are actually worse than in Canada, state dependant.

Where does one go? Europe? Same mess, if not worse. Australia / NZ? If you thought it was bad here, they are far more draconian nowadays.

So one has few options. All I can say is get out and vote this federal election.
Go vote if you’re in an Eastern or Urban riding. No point in voting other than for “popular” vote in western and rural….

I’d like to leave Kanuckistan….

Only quitters and cry-babies leave when they don't like the result. This is a democracy and we are lucky to live in it. Vote at the ballot box and with your wallet if you don't like how things are going. If you want to get away from politics, don't going looking for them and post about them.
5 out of 6 participants enjoy gang rape. That’s democracy in a nutshell.
For those thinking they’re just going to up and move to the US, I’d be curious to understand how they think that could happen.

The company I work for has a major presence on both sides of the border. The results of this particular election notwithstanding, I've been seriously considering a move south for a long time now. This may very well be my tipping point as far as making a decision to move.

People love to blame all of Canada's woes on Trudeau. And I most definitely don't have a good thing to say about the man. But he was but a mere symptom of the overall disease that this country has had for 75ish years now. The rot set in when my grandfather was a middle aged man and has only gotten worse with each generation that comes. The Overton window keeps being pushed further and further to the left. To the point where any man who founded the country would see very little of their original vision in modern Canada.

It's an absolutely beautiful country with some of the best hunting in the world. But for me, that's about all it has going for it. And, as I get older, that matters to me less and less. Freedom matters more.

Tl;dr: Maybe.

Also, Welcome.

Well said. At the end of the day, these politicians only exist because the average citizenry elects them (most of the time).

Western votes don't matter. Everything stacked for Ontario and east. Senate is also a joke.

unfortunatley even northern canada is within reach of the liberally corrupted rcmp.

LOL ya but representation for the population means that there is typically 1 officer to cover each 1000 square miles so they usually stick to the areas where there are people. In my 60 years of running around this country, I can count the number of times I have met a police officer in the bush on the fingers of one hand.

ya my wife has been back in Serbia with family the past 3 weeks and looking into the logistics and realities of relocating there.
There are some definate benefits but the political nature and current state of affairs in Serbia and Bosnia have to be taken into account and there is no good news there. Also, because of Trudeau and his gender bending policies, Canadians are not welcome in Bosnia and my wife was unable to return to her home region in Sarajevo and unable to visit her aunties grave sites in that country. Even in Serbia..... we Canadians are not very popular and my wife is fortunate she can blend in with the locals being she is from that culture. (orthodox)
So really, looking around the world..... where is there to go that isn't also either hostile to Canadians thanx to a decade of "progressiveness and wokism" or doesn't cost huge money , time and hoop jumping to be able to move there. Sure there are some less developed countries that a person could just go disappear into but to do it right and proper? there are not many viable choices, depending on your health, your lifestyle needs and financial situation.
If I am looking for a foreign destination to permanently resettle in, I need to have hunting and fishing as lifestye necessities. Being from BC with arguably the best fishing and hunting prospects in the world, the only comparable destination for me would be Alaska or one of the Scandanavian nations that have moose and such hehe.
So this is why a different option might just be to stay, but live a remote lifestyle..... not sure the wife would go along with my ideas though haha

I didn't realize there were countries that disliked Canadians simply because of our idiot former PM. Why specifically do Bosnians and Serbians dislike us?

Might as well just go now. no way the CPC stays in power forever anyway.

Reminds me of all the celebs who were supposedly gonna leave if Tump won...then again lol

First welcome to the CGN from southern Ontario.
I love my country and don't plain on leaving, as was said earlier get out there and vote, I can't stand people who ##### and when asked they say no didn't vote it doesn't matter. B.S. if you don't vote don't #####.
I'd consider going to another country just for climate change some where warm all year LOL.
But Canada 🇨🇦 is my home and I'll be buried here, hopefully with all my guns with me.

The societies in those countries divide themselves along religious lines. The prevailing religious identity in Serbia is Russian Orthodox and Catholic. The prevailing religious identity in Bosnia has shifted to predominantly Muslim since the conflict in the 90's, with very little tolerance for other religions or the people that identify with them. Gender bending ideology is not welcome by the vast majority of the populace of both nations, again due to the strong religious ties that bind thier cultures and communites.... laws as well. When it was found out that Trudeau's government had planted Canadian NGO's in the Balkans and were funnelling huge amounts of money to spread Trudeau's ideology in thier communities it was all over thier television and social media. Canadian's are also not really that liked by the current , post 90's conflict Muslim populace due to the peace keeping mission our forces were an integral part in.

No plans to leave. Family here, business here, sitting pretty comfortably, good income, debt free, no mortage.

My approach going forward is to be a Canadian of convenience. I don't give a flying f-ck about Canada. I will do the absolute minimum for this county as the law requires. I have an accountant that makes tax avoidance (not evasion) a personal mission. I will lever every social program to my advantage and spend as much time out of Justin Trudeau's "post national state" as possible.

Why move? I've traveled extensively and spent a lot of time searching out the perfect place to live. Seems right here where I live is pretty good. Since I live in the west my vote or voice doesn't matter so I don't get all worked up. I'm retired, have more than I need to live comfortably until my timely demise so why uproot. My solution, turn off the f'n news and stay away from social media.

Let the young ones fret over everything. It's their world to work with now. Short of a world war nothing anyone does in Canadian politics will effect me in any significant way.
