Anyone received the Walther PDP yet? Thoughts?

Im a massive sucker for super aggresive texturing. my favorite handgun is the M&P 2.0, if you held one you know exactly what im talking about lol. The PPQ felt like holding a wet soap bar. The grip contour was amazing felt really great but that texture man it was awful. With the high bore axis it ended up being so snappy i didnt enjoy shooting it against steel frame pistol or my M&P. The PPQ SF would probably have solved this issue too for me with grip pannel you can get whatever you like.

Anyway that new grip texture, the optic ready and having that amazing PPQ trigger again are all good reason for me to grab the PDP. Ill see how it hold up againts my M&P shortly enough. If not so well it will show up on the EE in the near future lol. If i was in your postion with a SF Q5 id probably sit tight for a while and try to handle one, they seems great enough to not throw money at the PDP right away lol
 
Better grip, better slide, slightly better trigger, way deeper optic cut, bigger mag release, better texture on the grip. Uses Glock sights so lots of cheap options.
If you can have it, in the full-size 18 round flush fit mags. I love my PPQ, PDP just improves upon it in every way. Grip allows a bit higher hold as well.

I'm looking at the compact in 5". I haven't seen any compacts in 4.5" so far.

It looks like if I end up with a 5", I can put a 4.5" upper on it later, looking at the frames, I can't seem to figure out how that would work or vice versa.

I have seen one con from WorkTheTrigger on YT. Apparently the recoil bosses aren't very well done on the optics mounting system.

Looks like they are not making the 4.5" compacts, at least for now. Too bad as that would have been my preference. While it might fit, no point in putting the 4.5" slide on the 5" compact frame as the frame will be longer than the slide.

I did the form on Walther USA website, and was emailed back that i have to contact Gravel https://gravelagency.com/en/ as they are the Canadian parts and repair center. However after that, i got a shipment confirmation from walther USA about the plate being shipped, that was last week so will wait and see.
 
My PDP turned up yesterday (full size 4.5"), got some dry fire practice on it last night. Will hopefully shoot it this weekend if the registration certificate turns up.

Initial thoughts: I really like it.
The trigger is fantastic. Long initial pull but a very clear wall and clean break, very short reset.
Points very naturally and I find it extremely easy to hold on the target.
The grip angle is a bit different to what I'm used to. Not bad, but different. The palm swell is fairly low and it feels like I should be putting my hand higher up on the gun. I've heard this was done on purpose to make it easier to find the red dot when drawing.
 
My 4.5" full-size showed up yesterday too. I'm very impressed - the ergos, trigger, and build are all excellent.

Does anyone know how long Gravel takes to send out an optic plate?
 
Got the chance of taking the PDP to the range today to compare to my buddy PPQ M1. I still enjoy the paddle release more but the PDP button is actually one of the nicest one i got to use. Sight are nicer on the PDP and are adjustable so for someone who reload like me its really great no fiddling with different load and POI/POA. Muzzle flip is similar on both but the better texture on the PDP make it alot easier to get a good grip to mitigate the high bore axys. Trigger is a bit lighter on this PPQ but it has 3k rounds down the pipe so it smoothed itself long ago, i expect the PDP to be as good after similar round count.

Overall i think the PDP is a good improvement on the PPQ, it may not be worth its heavy price tag to everyone but to me it was. I think the PDP is also one of the best option of the lastest years of polymer SF option that flooded the market. Id take the PDP over a P10F or a SFP9 anyday of the week and twice on sunday.

Anyone had any luck getting their optics plate yet? I applied on the Walther site, got sent an email to contact Gravel. Gravel sent out a plate but its a PPQ not PDP plate and they are not compatible. Not happy.
