Anyone shoot 284?

Buckmastr you’re not reducing my envy of the rig, interesting pedigree from CGN as well. :d I like your style I load light for caliber and fast for the mountains too, it results in a more workable trajectory for most mountain hunting applications. I’m a major fan of rounds in this class they represent the best of the mountain bunch, .257 Roy, 6.5x284, .264 Win, .270, .270 WSM, .280, .284, 7 Mag.

.270, .280, .284 represent a sweet spot in particular of speed / rifle weight / efficiency, and .284 is likely the outright winner if not for being harder to feed so I usually go to the .270 / 7 Mag.

Apologies for the derail.

I agree. Lighter has worked well for me over the years. The 7 Rem mag has been a winner for me with 140gr Barnes. Which was the bullet I had originally intended to shoot out of the 284 win until I saw how fast and accurate the 120's were.

280Rem, 7mm Rem, (270Win cough cough) are few other options with more available factory ammo with similar performance.
If you don't reload the 284Win is not going to be friendly.

Right ..... Also, I like the 280 in a 700 LA as it allows me to seat out bullets to the lands. The 7mag and 270 would be the same.

Really Contemplating having my Kimber 7mm-08 barrel Re chambered into .284 .......... they say it can be done without much fuss..........
But
i have a 308 Kimber stainless barrel aswell, Im not sure if i go 30-284 , or keep a 308, or keep the 7-08 as its all fairly prestine an there sno need to Fk with it....

it wont cost me too much in Aus , but ill only do it once......

suggestions?

I wouldn't rechamber a 7mm-08 that shoots well.
The 7-08 is almost as awesome.
I'd find a 84L that doesn't shoot and rebarrel to 284 win/280 Rem on a Kimber long action.

Remington Jim is a hot rodder!

Awww, heez a bawl buster.

Stay with a bolt action.
Nudder werser than awn yer knees lookying fur spent brass that rolled awf the table
and onto the floor.
Then rolled into a crevace nawt to be found anymore.

Hayya Matt, awffer still stands...…….
