AR-15's

dressed up my brand new AR today, got myself a 14.5" Norinco CQ-A, the quad rail required a ton of dremeling to fit and but once it did, its rock solid. I'm excited to take it to the range.

Bought a Bushmaster XM15 Patrolman's Pistol and put this SBR setup together. I think it's coming along really nicely! May still swap out the muzzle device for a break...

What BUIS are you using and where did you get them?

Look super low profile.

Looks like the MBUS PRO set from Magpul

This is correct, Magpul MBUS Pro units. I opted for the regular MBUS Pro rear sight instead of the LR (Long Range) model. Figured I probably wouldn't be shooting far with this gun... :p

Thanks for the props on the gun and photos guys! I'm a hobby photographer as well so it's nice to see that aspect of my work appreciated as well!

Nice build, nice pics

Slick sights. I'm torn between them and the KAC sights honestly. Despite the higher cost of the KAC micro sights, you are getting something that can be used as a primary iron sight or a BUIS, whereas with most of what is on the market, you are stuck with straight up BUIS...

Glad I hung onto the 20rnders.

It started as a Stag 4R, not much of it left though.

Ended up ordering a set of the KAC micros, they should be here in a few days, thanks OSTS!

Also working with Motiuk to get a custom engraved lower to finish my build.

My goal was to make a very reliable build with good parts, weighing in at a max of ~7lbs with optic, and from my calculations I will be very close. I wanted to put the weight in the rear with the UBR, and have the entire front end be super light weight. My personal experience with AR's has taught me that 8lbs and lighter is the butter zone, and if you can shave more weight off the front, all the better. The upper only weighs 2lbs in front of the receiver thanks to my parts list. Still need to make some tweaks here and there but I'm very close to my ideal carbine build.

I'm toying with the idea of just using the Knights flip up irons as the sole sighting system on the gun since they are windage and elevation adjustable without tools, it will cut out just over a pound of optics and bring this rifle to the 6lb game. I could cut another pound off if I really wanted to go lightweight with an ultralight stock like the minimalist, but I think I like the idea of the weight at the back, along with the fact that the UBR is just such a good solid stock.

Basic parts list once done will be:

Lower:

Motiuk Lower
Magpul UBR
DD lower parts kit
Trigger Tech curved trigger

Upper:

Dlask Upper
Spikes NIB BCG
Slidelock charging handle
BCM KMR 13
DD lightweight 14.5" CHF barrel - mid length gas system
DD low profile gas block and gas tube
NF NXS 1-4x22
KAC micro FUIS
V7 charging port cover.

Squared away my new Norc 10.5, added Bushmaster slim grips, and old Colt Sporter stock and pistol grip.
I'd like to drop a red dot onto it but that's for later...
