AR shopping

a 10.5" CQB Standard version NEA-15 is going to be my first AR. I have it pre-ordered through One Shot Tactical - and cant wait until October.

For under $1000 - looks to be some real solid kit.

Shooting at 20-50m with a CQB AR has resulted in some of the funnest times I've ever spent at a range.

sure, but do it in .22 and you get full cap mags as a bonus and do it in 9mm and you get half price ammo as a bonus.

i like to shoot alot and i like cheap ammo/not having to reload.

and have a .223 as well, just go with the other two first

The other option is to Join the ORA and come out to some longer distance shoots. CQB is great fun of course and you need a centre fire for your scores to count.

The there are practices (generally at 300 yards) and service rifle that goes to 4-500 yards.

If that interests you at all, you should consider at 223/5.56 rifle so you are not limited. Or get two, one in 22 rf and one in 5.56.

We expect to unveil our complete upper this week on Black Rifle Mag and the complete gun in two weeks. Our PDW gun made an appearance at Target sports last night where it spent some time on the range.

Well, JasonP...

Here is where I would recommend taking a close look at the AR's being brought in chambered for .22 LR.

They can be had from many of the fine sponsors you find at the top.

My logic is this;

Your maximum distance is going to be 20-50m on a bench during rifle night. Now if you were going a different route, I would recommend different, but your wants dictate an inexpensive rifle that will still be of decent quality and at those ranges, you still want a bit of a challenge, a properly wielded AR will single hole all night long at those distances in those conditions. Besides, you really can't beat the cost of .22 compared to the cost of .223/5.56N...

You will still get the feel of the AR and the controls are all the same.

I'm scoring 0's on all the center fire targets since I only have 22's at the moment. Othewise I would stick with 22 they are a blast!

I have decided on this https://shopquestar.com/shopping65/shopexd.asp?id=1687&bc=no

I just got off the phone with them they were VERY helpful. I need to save another $1000 first so I hope they don't end the sale any time soon!

Thank you everybody. I'll hopefully be posting pics soon. I have a reason to go to work now :D

Nice choice in rifle. Now the onus is on you to make proper use of it!

Nice choice, we have the same taste...

50calshooter I have the same issue with my MBUS so I switch to the new ARMS 1 and no longer does it come any were the near the bell on my optic.

Both are polymer so I would put them on gas blocks but the retention clip on the ARMS I thought was much more rugged & well thought out then the MBUS ones.

Scopes, Barrel length

OK it's time to order and I'm losing it deciding between 14.5" or 16".

I'm thinking 16", and if I really want shorter buy a 10.5" down the road.

But then I'm also thinking 14.5" will look cooler; who cares about a little extra FPS and a little less long range?

I do not know what to do yet.

Also I have a SS fixed rifle scope I can put on - or is that blasphemy? Do I need an "AR" style scope?

Help. me. before. my. brain. explodes.

:D

IMO that would be blasphemy!

A red dot or other "tacticool" style scope is a must on a CQB AR set up. ;)

As for barrel length, I went for the 14.5" LMT Defender. If you're going to get a 2nd shorty upper down the road, and if you might bring your rifle to the U.S. at some point, go with the 16". You can save a bit of money this way (to put towards mags/ammo :D) and your rifle is importable to the U.S. (as it's not an SBR).
