ar's in quebec need help

Somebody waiting for their AR to clear should REALLY take the matter with the Quebec Ombusman (http://www.protecteurducitoyen.qc.ca/en/index.asp)

These delays are un-called for and cannot have any impact on criminality sice you already have a valid license... If anybody needs help with the paperwork, it would be my pleasure to assist.

My friend called the ombusman two week ago about his AR ( 4 month now that he is waiting and he already own many restricted ) and he has no return call from his ombusman yet !!!

same here every time i get some thing new my buddy calls me up and askes me what i got now ,last year they even called my wife and asked her if she thought it was ok for me to get another hand gun. what kind of krap is that if my wife ever gets the combo for my gun safe im DEAD.

I dont mind them calling my GF and best bud every time i get a new toy . Better be safe then sorry ....... but do they really need 4 months to do backround checks for an AR ??

waited 4 months, still waiting, my CFO told me I should have it by summer and btw it is the same process for any semi-auto restricted rifle here in Quebec. :(

I don't think it's for all restricted semi-auto rifles, just ARs, I'm pretty sure the prosess for Swiss Arms restricteds or Hk is as long as handguns, they are not "official" black scary guns for the Qc CFO.

I had few times my CFO on the phone since the begining, everytime she refered to my AR it was always as "semi-auto restricted rifle" so i thought they was all in the same boat, but I may be wrong

This is not reasonalbe or realistic !

Hi guys , as you saw in my previous post and reading this thread , I realize that we are quite a few law abiding canadian citizen , living in this province , being subjected to a form a harrassment , disguised as satefy issues .

What can we do to bring these issues to the attention of federal government ? I don't agree or believe in the way my province is going about implementing these "safety precautions " . I already own quite a few pistols and quite a few restricted rifle , why should buying one more change anything ?

The issue I am having with this safety precaution , is the very unreasonable delay , how can you buy something and wait over 3 , 4 , 5 or even 6 months to get a permit to bring it from store to your house . Because in all honesty , when you buy the firearm at the store , they iniate the transfer right away , so the last step of the transaction is for the province to issue transport permit from store to residence , as we all posess a permit to go from residence to range ... this is ludicrous and quite stupid , the extra delay will not save any lives or protect anyone , it will only irritate and piss off the regular people that own firearms , and yes I am aware that the goal is to discourage gun ownership , but the way they go about it is illegal in my opinion !

Rant mode off , need ideas as to how to bring this to the attention of people who can regulate and help us in the very delicate situation . I tried writing to my umbodsman , as suggested in this thread , and if I did not provide all my personal detail , no action would be taken . Problem is I don't want to leave all my details , as I am afraid I will be exposed to reprisals by the Surete du Quebec , adding more delays and who knows what , more unpleasant things for me ....
