ATRS Modern hunter specs, pics and range reports

Have everything quiet in the house and pull back MH or any ar 15 with a charging handle and release. Pay attention to the sound and think if you want to be doing that as whatever deer or elk or moose is standing staring in your direction wondering if there's something there. CLANG!
Or gently let it forward to not spook anything, it's not going to seat if you hold it all the way to front to prevent noise.

I always walk in with one in the chamber. Just on safety. I do that with bolt actions, semi autos, lever whatever. I don't want to be loading when I see a animal. I just click off safety and bombs away.

This conversation is about if that one in the chamber doesn't fire.

That's the suggested solution to ammo not firing in the bush? Cycle action until one fires? I've light striked 3-4 in a row a couple times. Then change magazine? If that's the scenario I won't be taking this gun hunting but I doubt I'll have to settle for that from a small custom gun maker. I'd like to at least hear from Rick if a cheap spring switch is possible first.

No that's the solution to your problem with the bolt not locking. My guess, given that you're having problems with the bolt not locking is that you're not having light strikes and are in fact trying to fire with the bolt out of battery.

I've never had an issue with light strikes and I've run all kinds of ammo through mine.

Well it was rick that alluded to more people having that issue. Anyways, I'll wait for his response. Posting on here was for the purpose of other people experiencing it to see if there was a solution, not for the 80 or 90 or whatever percent that aren't experiencing it.

To date we have only had problems with light primer strikes reported by guys using hard cup primers as is normally found on surplus ammo.
We use North American made ammo from Federal, Hornady or Remington when test firing each rifle prior to releasing it.
The trigger pack has the ONLY option for spring in it already. It IS certainly possible that the Timney trigger pack in your rifle has developed a problem, the only way we can ascertain this is to get the gun back here for diagnosis and repair if need be.

If you would be so kind as to either call us or email us with more info as to what ammo you are experiencing this problem with it would be appreciated.
Frankly these rifles are designed to be hunted with with the bolt in battery and the safety engaged. However the rifle should function properly and it seems there might be a problem with yours that needs to be attended to, which over the net is hard for us to do.

The MH I have experience with seems to a shot a lot hotter than it should. 18.5" semi auto and still shoots 2600+ with FGMM. catered primers and deep ejector marks. Hornady Superformance was even worse.

Are Any of the JP silent captured buffer system going to make it onto the 3rd run of mh's Being delivered soon?

Too late for 3rd run, but we will be offering the captured buffer as a retro fit upgrade early in 2016. 4th production run they will be standard equipment and the price of the rifle will be increased due to this. No idea at this time by how much given the volatility of the loonie.

My MH is due January 2016. Can I add it to my order right now? I don't care if it sets back the date of my delivery a couple more weeks.

It will be a mid to late spring thing (no pun intended) before we have them. We are taking names at the shop with who wants to upgrade so that we can get the order placed with the correct numbers and styles.
If we purchase just a few now the price will be steep, but with having to order hundreds in a few months the pricing will be much better.

Just picked this up from a fellow member here and all I can say from my initial moments handling it is wow I can wait to shoot it!! Need a scope for it now!

Damn you all with your great reports and amazing pics.
I resisted since the beginnings of the MH, but on the long run, you wore me out. You made me weak. I fell.

I now considering suing you all collectively for about $5500 plus tax + shipping + scotch (meds) + the best glass I still have to decide on.

And Shaun at ATRS, he's no better. After a good counselling chat, he said "what's your visa card number?" f:P:

Burn in hell.

PS: I'll meet you there in 6-7 months my new MH. I hear there's plenty of vermin down there...

For those of you running the Hirtenberger ammo with success, are you shooting the stuff with Boxer primers (in the cardboard boxes) or the Berdan primer stuff (in the green combat packs)?
Finally had a chance to take it to the range and I'm getting about 15% FTF with what I would surmise to be light primer strikes/hard primers. The primers all seem to have a nice centered indent and will all fire after recocking the hammer and hitting them a second time. I'm running the Boxer stuff in it right now.
Other than that it shoots beautifully so far. Weight wise it "feels" very close to a C7, which is impressive for a .308 gas gun. The brake does a phenomenal job and overall it feels closer to 7.62x39 than .308 to me.
What I'm trying to figure out is if this is an ammo or a rifle issue since I've heard reports of light primer strikes with surplus 7.62 but have also seen posts on here of people running the Hirtenberger without problems. Any feedback would be much appreciated!

Machine gun ammo which is what most if not all surplus ammo is tends to have much harder primer cups in order to stop "run on firing".
The MH has a 4 lb match type trigger which has enough hammer strike force to ignite virtually all commercial primers, but not enough to consistently ignite the hard cup primers that surplus uses normally. This is why we do not recommend the use of surplus ammo.

Makes sense. I'm not too upset about it since it's obviously a very carefully designed precision weapon system and using surplus ammo seems akin to putting regular gas in a Ferrari.
I'll be picking up some commercial stuff shortly. I was mostly wondering if maybe I'd be able to get away with using the Berdan primed stuff since others on here seemed to be running it with decent results and it's available for such a good price at the moment. Apart from the whole hard primer cup thing the boxer primed Hirtenberger was shooting some very nice groups.

Received mine earlier this week, range report to follow soon!

Crappy pics, i know.

Would you mind shooting some no flash pics someday for me?? I'm trying to decide on color. I fully recognize that I sound like a woman worrying about color, but on a 5500$ build I wanna get it right!!
