ATRS Modern hunter specs, pics and range reports

Ah, woops. looks like I meant collapsible, not "A2 collapsible".

So to change from a Magpul PRS to a Milspec collapsible type buffer tube to accommodate my Sopmod stock on my MH, what will I need for parts? Like I said I do plan to go with the JP system, as I understand it I need to change buffers and spring when changing to the Milspec collapsible style tube, so it would be beneficial to switch stocks and buffer systems at the same time correct?

Is it possible I can request a Milspec collapsible buffer tube in place of the commercial size on my MV so I do not have to monkey with it? Sopmods only come in Milspec and wish to put sopmods on both my MH and MV.

You would need to change everything from the lower back, so buffer tube, buffer and spring would all need to be replaced as the A2/ PRS employs rifle length parts.
To make changes to your build please email the shop directly so we can try and accommodate the changes for you.

I have a question, do the MHs have free floating firing pins? I recently played with some HK gas gun and it had a spring to eliminate free floating pin. I never asked to peek under the hood when I played with a MH last year in your store. Sort of regret not learning more before I ordered

Yes both the M.H. and M.V. have floating firing pins. To put a firing pin return spring in would mean having to increase the hammer spring pressure rating, which then would increase the trigger pull weight. The HK system is an entirely different set up.

The latest from the boys at ATRS, 18.5" Jury lightweight bbl, CTR stock, 12" Fortis, ambi controls, ATRS rings and brake, with a March 2.5-25x42.

Weighs in at 10.5lbs with scope and rings but feels lighter than that. It feels slightly front heavy but that's expected with the light stock. I really like the feel of the Fortis handguard. The rifle is very quick handling and surprisingly compact in size for a semi auto .308. The fit, finish and overall quality are a 10/10. I've never seen a better build with such attention to detail. The trigger is just about perfect for a hunting rifle. It breaks very clean and has good weight.

Which magazine is that?

I thought there were problems with those mags.

There are problems with them in some rifles. These are the only mags ATRS has at the moment and they gave me one with that understanding in mind. For the time being, it's better than nothing. Their new mags should be out soon.

I thought there were problems with those mags.

The problem is that the IMI mags have dimensional tolerances that make it impossible to simply grab a mag and stick it in a rifle. We have a TON of these mags and have to try each mag for fit and function in each specific rifle, which is not only time consuming but as each mag needs to be test fired for function in each individual rifle, expensive on ammo.
They "can" be made to work, but the effort is not cost effective. We should be able to grab any mag in the box and know that it will work in the rifle as can can do with the XCR-M mags and in not too long, our own mags. Unfortunately with the IMI mags this is not the case, but all we have at the moment to work with.

Sorry Rick, I guess I should have known the problem occurs because of the tolerances of the mags and not the rifles.

Why can't you guys source some metal type mags like

I don't see why this type of metal ar-10 style mag wouldn't work. The metal 20 round mags in my opinion would be the best mag for this gun.

I'm considering importing some of these mags. Anyone know if they would work for sure? I have a bunch of ASC 5/10 round mags that work great.

It'd be one thing if the ATRS mags were done, but they are not. Until they are I don't understand why it doesn't make business sense to order in some of these metal mags to ship out with the rifles. It would have be been nice if they included an IMI mag with my rifle. Mine came with zero mags and zero help on where to find a mag that works except 1 email link to an out of stock website selling xcr-m mags.

Now I don't run a business and have no idea what reasons ATRS have for what they do, and I'm sure they are probably good reasons.

We CAN source these mags as we ARE allowed to import PROHIBITED mags and devices. the problem there is that they are 20 round mags so we could not sell or even give them away without breaking several laws.
These would need to be pinned to 5 rounds BEFORE they could be imported into Canada in order to sell them to anyone except an LE or military agency.

We shipped out several rifles AFTER explaining to the recipient that we did not have any XCR-M mags which we know work well. Rather than us paying full retail for the mags we felt it was better to direct the client to a source that had them available. I apologize if another retailer sold out of these before you got to them, but this is rather out of our control.

We have MANY thousands of dollars in mag inventory that is for the most part useless, so rather than continuing to spend tons of money on mags that may or may not work we decided to invest a TON of money into making mags that A) we KNOW will work and B) we know we will always be able to supply, thereby greatly reducing our dependence on a maker in a foreign country that apparently seems to not be able to supply ANY of the Canadian dealers with enough product. To my way of thinking the route we chose was the most responsible to our clients past, present and future despite the huge capital investment on our part.

We already have this covered as all of the Varmints will be shipped with our own mags that we have had in production for a couple of years now.
The XCR-L mags will work as will any other STANAG spec mag.
