My 338fed upper is ready hoping to sight it in next week sum time
The only ammo I found is cheep Eagle
I have a bear moniter class comming up this month what a perfict time to test out the new upper if thy let me have sum fun

I just got off the phone with Shaun there not making no more MH in 338 fedral
I got the last one
There is only two uppers ATRS made in the 338 fedral and one is mine

Interesting. Wonder why they are no longer offering them?!

Not nearly enough call and waaaaaay to many feeding problems due to the total lacking of factory ammo choices suitable to be run through a semi auto. Cost of ammo is high and availability of ammo and reloading supplies is extremely low, the joys of an orphan cartridge.
We have also dropped 243 and 7mm 08 for the same reason. Although more mainstream, again very little in the way of ammo that is designed for use in a semi auto.

All 3 cartridges would work fine with handloads and the proper bullet styles, but the amount of aggravation these 3 cartridges have caused from guys who ordered rifles in these calibers who did not understand that semi autos do not function the same as bolt rifles do, coupled with the factory ammo almost being entirely not semi auto friendly answers the question as to why virtually no-one else offers these choices in an AR style rifle.

The cool factor just got evan bigger for me
I found a set of 338fed dies on EE
Still need to find sumone to show me how to resize 308 brass and reload

I got # 29 on the first run and having one of the only Two 338 uppers
Plus I will soon have MV with a matching #29
I'm good on the colectablty of my set
I'm broke but I'm a happy man

For prone shooting especially with a bipod the Fortis is not the best for accuracy simply as it flexs significantly and can allow the handguard to contact the gas block.
A front bag seems to work far better when looking for accuracy when the Fortis is the furniture of choice.

Which handguard(s) do you recommend for shooting off a bipod? I am contemplating ordering an MH with a JP handguard.

I love the feel, look and weight of my JP but damn is it cold in the winter( and loud against brush) so if you use it for hunting some sort of wrap would help with those issues.

Great shooting especially considering it's your first time with this particular rifle, the owner definitely has it Zeroed-In.

However I wouldn't call #3 and #4 rd. groups significant in size for a real test of the rifles accuracy, saying that it did group those rounds especially well.

I can only assume from your student comment that you must be a very experienced shooter who teaches others how to shoot very good groups.;)

Cheers D

Thank you for your kind words, D.

These rifles shoot better than I do.

I look forward to really testing them out, with, as you say, more groups.

Frankly, most people can group, with a day's coaching in Mental Management, Marksmanship Fundamentals and the Integrated Act of Firing a Shot.

I love teaching, and get a real thrill watching shooters exceed their self-imposed limits. By the end of Day One, most students are exhausted and pretty happy with their achievment.

If I can help any fellow Gunnutz reach and exceed their potential, with a Modern Hunter or other rifle, reach me at sierra64riflecraft@gmail.com, or look me up on Facebook / Sierra 64 Riflecraft. I can run courses on your local range, too.

See you on the range!
