I'm looking to invest(drop hard earned cash) on a higher end NR semi auto rifle in 308. My first thought is to buy an ultra ###y looking modern hunter. Problem is I can't find any reviews on this gun? I've search here on CGN with no avail. You'd figure the most popular gun site in Canada would be teeming with reviews.
What's the deal with this rifle? Good, bad? Worth the $4+? Should I look at a high end m1a instead.

Thanks again folks!!

Nothing wrong with a springfield m14. Personally I'm quite partial to the m14 platform.
The modern hunter from what I gathered from the forums is its a high quality, accurate rifle that doesn't like hard primer ammo.

Often ammo seems to be the culprit in modern hunter bashing. Like high end boat/car buyers refusing to run 94 octane fuel. Not many N/R 308 aresque available here, especially high end ones.

Just look up the DPMS Gen1 LR308. I've had one for about 9 years now. So far so good. I've been lucky and haven't had to replace the extractor spring yet.

If you want a quality, semi-custom, non restricted rifle that will shoot MOA then the MH is it. You don't see a lot of reviews on them yet, because a lot of us haven't had the time behind them to do a proper review. Many reviews/range reports were just taken down as well, because every owner that posted anything seemed to get slagged by a bunch of no-minds that had never even held one. After market support is fantastic, because ATRS isn't a big company and they stand behind their product. This isn't NEA or Robinson Arms using their customers as beta testers.

There is nothing wrong with the M-14 platform as well, but to get close to what ATRS is offering in an M-14 you're looking at LRB and an aftermarket stock. I think TonyBen just posted that his setup is worth about $6500 US. That ain't chicken feed

As for accuracy/reliability. These are MOA rifles. There was even a post from one owner that shot MOA using Norc surplus. However: Rick has been very up front from the start about these rifles not liking hard primers. They were never designed to shoot cheap surplus. The general attitude was that you don't spend 4K on a rifle to shoot cheap ammo in. You can if you want, but don't expect it to eat surplus like an SKS

These were built and marketed as an extremely accurate hunting rifle-hence the name. They are not a Battle Rifle. They are the top of the heap for a modern style, AR type, non restricted rifle. They are, in my opinion, simply fantastic.

Flame suit on!!!

I am intrigued by a NR semi and the MV meets all of my needs. I own a mini 14 & 30 but find the ergonomics of a modern sporting rifle more appealing compared to any of the more expensive subito NR black rifles.

Wow I never knew!
I cannot tolerate any false education, false credentials, false deeds, false experiences and/or false valor, it always tarnishes the ones who really hold them. it is one of my pet peeves.

For that alone, I cannot endorse this business any further in any way.
