We have just been notified that in order to process the abundance of restricted handgun transfers, the Alberta CFO has advised us that they are only sending the buyer's copy and not the seller's copy.

Since we are not receiving our seller's copy of the transfer approvals, we ask that you please email your buyer's approval copy to carolyn@irunguns.ca and she will finalize your orders and get things rolling.

I was told by a gun store yesterday that Ontario is following.

I fail to see that omitting to send seller’s notification could speed things up.
Doesn’t their system have some feature like send emails to both parties at same time? They live in Stone Age?

This new measure pretty mch has confirmed that their system is from the Stone Age!!!

Absolutely pathetic. It's unacceptable the with the taxes we all pay and the way our communist government throws around our money willy-nilly that they such horrendous inefficiency is allowed to exist.

Yes because if we don’t get our guns for recreational use it’s the end of the world.

Last time I did a restricted transfer (I was the seller) I had to call the CFO after 3 weeks to find out the transfer was approved two weeks before... and the RCMP firearm's center mailed the approval, which I got the day after calling.

At least they are using e-mail now.

Yes because if we don’t get value for our taxes it should be the end of a politician's career.

Fixed it for you.

Ok just so I’m clear on this. I bought online from irunguns.ca, and my status says “pending transfer approval from CFO”. I haven’t had any direct contact with the CFO, so when you say the “email address I gave the CFO”, do you mean the email that irunguns.ca would have used when they initiated the transfer? Should I guess just wait for that Emil to come through?.. thanks for all your info and help

If you have ever dealt with the RCMP to complete a transfer before (when you purchase a restricted firearm from a person directly, not a company) you most likely would have given them (the govt) an email address.

When the govt approves your purchase/transfer. They will send you a copy of the gun registration in your name (make/model/calibre/serial number). This is your “approved transfer” document, and they will send it to you by email and regular mail.

Now, when buying a gun from an online store, you do not need to call in to complete the transfer. The store will send all the info to the govt, and then they will either approve or deny your purchase. If they approve the purchase, they will send you a copy of that ‘approved transfer’ document.

What IRG is asking for, is that when you get that ‘approved transfer’ email from the govt, to flip it to them so they can finalize your order.

Caveat: if you have never dealt directly with the RCMP to complete a transfer, they may not have your email on file - in which case you’d have to wait for the paper copy to arrive at your house by snail mail

Awesome Thanks for clearing this up. I haven’t purchased a restricted since 2005, so I’m a little rusty lol.

And clearly between healthcare, education and other infrastructure we should prioritize this particular “integral” activity with our taxes.

I can get the frustration and that you maybe upset, but throwing tantrums because you can’t get your pew pew transfer quickly enough is a bit ridiculous.

The solution is not wasting resources on nonsense
