Just got an ATT through my club in 24 hours. He said they've got a new electronic system? Nice:)
An efficient gun club! Must be nice.
wow imagine that. another question. aren't att's usually for 5 years ?
My understanding is the LTATT expires when your PAL expires (to a maximum of 5 years), but also depends on the dates entered in Section D of the ATT application.

Am I able to obtain a single use ATT to transport my handgun from the store to my home without belonging my range? I'm in BC if that matters.

You tell us.

Authorizations To Transport

You require an Authorization to Transport (ATT) from a provincial CFO in order to transport a restricted firearm from one location to another. There is no fee for an ATT.

To be eligible for an ATT you must have a valid firearms licence authorizing you to possess restricted firearms.

You can apply for an ATT by calling 1 800 731-4000 or by submitting form CAFC 679.

Hi,

I'm new to pistols so needless to say ATTs have become a focus of attention lately for me.

After buying my first pistol my paper work was faxed to the BC CFO, and one week latey my LTATT arrived.
*side note, i bought another pistol a week after the first one.

Maybe people are telling I now have to wait for a Short term ATT to get the firearm from the store(s) to my house. However in one of the pages the ATT it allows for "service and repair," but not specifically initial transport of the firearm(s).

My questions are, does this override the need for a short term ATT?
And also I'm required to carry the registration of during transport. Who issues this?

I'm sure this is made more complicted than it needs to be just to discourage the hobby...

PS: remember i'm in British Columbia

thanks

I've since learned everything i needed to know so in case anyone else is wondering
A. LTATT and STATT are totally different, but you have to apply for a LTATT to get your STATT from the merchant.
B.The temporary registration comes with the STATT which is one of the 3 documents you need to travel legally. 1.r-pal 2. ATT 3. gun registration

Att

Long term ATT's are issued for a period of up to 5 years, or however long your PAL is valid for. Club membership is not required.

When filling out the form include; name, address, PAL #, phone #, name of range that you will primarily be shooting at, sign and date it and leave the rest ofthe form blank. Your ATT will come back being valid for all ranges in western Canada, all gunsmiths and all border crossings providing that you have the appropriate U.S. documentation.

I just got off the phone with the CFO here in Victoria and I was told that I do need a Club membership.

still waiting

I mailed off my forms early december and still no att, no surprise with the holidays and all.We Canadians are a patient people! Maybe this week?

I have a question in regards to a short term ATT. I purchased a handgun and right now i am waiting for it to be mailed. I know one outcome is it's gonna be left at my door, but the other is a required signature and it will be left at my post office. How do i go about getting a short term ATT to bring it home?

Short term ATT? When I purchased a handgun from one of our on line dealers it was mailed to me. It arrived via Canada Post. I signed for it. Short term ATT? What short term or any ATT? All that was included was a notice from the CFC (if I recall correctly) that the handgun was registered to me and the reg paper arrived a few weeks later. Maybe it's different if you bought it from a private individual. I understand fully that to use it I have to apply to a club for membership and eventually get an LTATT in the near future.
