ATT's what you need to know

So this how my first restricted firearm purchase and ATT application is going smoothly I think, first off it has been a good experiences from all groups and people involved. I had applies a while ago for an ATT and I was told NO due to the fact I did not own a restricted firearm. So now I just purchased two restricted firearms and I just confirmed the transfer over to me with the CFC, I was told they will send it to the CFO to be approved. From what they told me along with my range is that I will be issued a TATT to get my new firearms home. I am a current member Silverdale Gun Club and I now need to complete the ATT course they offer before they will submit an application for me, this inclued an $80 fee and four hours for the safety couse which is the main portion, after that I still need four observing days I have to go threw. After doing all that I can now apply for an ATT or my club can, I was also told by the CFO and Silverdale that my ATT will be valid for all approved ranges which is what I want asd I have friends who are members at different ranges. Sounds like its all coming togeather it just takes sometime and commitment on my behalf, so now I just do what I'm told and wait. I will be going to Silerdale this Saturday to take the ATT course, so I'm hoping it will all be done by April 1st. Hopefully this helps on with this thread.

Cheers,
Evan

I had my first restricted transfer approved last Monday. I had my range apply for my ATT and was told they would call when it came in. I went Saturday and still nothing. So I called the Ontario CFO today to enquire. They had not received anything yet from my club. I then called the club back. As it turns out they don't send them in until they get at least 3 to send. They faxed it over while I was on the phone. When I called the cfo back to confirm the very nice lady told me that although she had it the process would still take until at least Friday. My new to me firearms will be arriving tomorrow and I will not be able to use them for another week.

In Alberta, can I just have my CFO Email me the STATT to get the firearm home and then wait for my LTATT in the mail?
You can get them both emailed to you. When I applied for my STATT I asked the lady one the other end of the line a bunch of questions, she correctly guessed that this was my first rstricted and said "how about I add your LTATT to the request as well".

If you feel like stirring the pot a bit...;) , ask the CFO "just who designed the ATT course ? "...:yingyang:

WTF kind of a semi retarded notion is an "att course". Lock gun, Put gun in box. Lock box. Walk with gun to truck. Put gun in truck. Drive to range. Repeat. Wow, that was tough. I can see why so many people have problems. What's next, a cfo designed course on how to shake your willie to get the last drops off when you're done? - dan

Hey guys! I gotta question and hoping someone can answer it..

So I bought a firearm from a vendor without having my ATT. The firearm seems to be giving me problems and has a couple of defects within certain parts and so I spoke to the vendor and they told me to send it back .. However, I still dont have an ATT (currently completing probationary shoots at Silverdale) and was wondering if I need to get a temp ATT to mail it back to the vendor.. If I do, whats the correct procedure in getting the temp att and mailing it?

Thanks guys!

LTATT in Quebec

Has anyone successfully applied for their LTATT in Quebec with these characteristics (which is standard in BC)?

1. Valid for the same length as your PAL (up to 5 years same expiry)
2. Purpose: Target practice at valid club or range
3. Transport TO that is:
a. All approved ranges in your Province
b. All approved gunsmiths
c. The border
4. Frequency: Daily at all times
5. Firearms Registered: see conditions (which then states all firearms which you have certificates for)

Assuming you have a club membership.

Does anyone want to share their LTATT PDF minus their personal details for others here so we can all honour our Quebec CFO with similar forms?

Feel free to correct me if I'm way off here

Im currently looking at two ranges Sherwood park and CHAS.

So could I go down to the store purchase the handgun, wait for the att, bring it home, join a club and get the Lt att?

Feel free to:kickInTheNuts: if im way off here lol

I'm in the NWT I've just applied for my RPAL and have pistol on hold waiting for that to happen.

This thread encompasses a considerable time span 6 years plus. While I've read a good deal of it I've not read it all. Post # 40 in this thread had a link to the ATT application for BC which should be typical for everyone, anyone happen to have it or if you can post a link that works to it.

I've read and re-read the application and to be honest I get more confused each time I read it.

I want to be able to get the ATT so that I can transport any restricted firearm I have legally (owned or borrowed) to any range in NWT, Alberta, Yukon, BC or any gunshop/smith, and all border crossings into the US in BC, AB, and YK.

Here is a down loadable version of BC long term ATT with notes, pertinent information filled out. Download, fill out, save a copy on your HD and print and fax it in.

I live in BC and recently obtained my RPAL and applied to the CFO Office for my blanket LTATT. From what I read on this forum there is a 4 to 6 week wait for processing. There is a hundgun that I'd like to purchase currently available at a good price...is this a mistake or is it ok to order the gun now and have both the LTATT and STATT in the CFO queue at the same time?

Question about Ontario ATT:
I live in GTA and am a member of a GTA range, as well as one up north by my (family)cottage.
My ATT is my home address and my GTA range got it for me.
What do I need to do so I can bring my restricteds to my cottage for when I'm going to the range up there? When I go to the cottage I stay overnight.
Also, I have storage (safe) at home and cottage that both exceed requirements.

Is there someone I need to call?

Your ATT covers you to any range in Ontario. When you are at your cottage you are considered "in transit" to the best of my knowledge. It's is how you're allowed to keep you pistol in the hotel room with you when you're going to an overnight competition.

I've never done it before though, just heard it done. Someone with more experience may want to chime in.

Depends on the exact conditions listed on your ATT. If only your current range is listed, most likely that is the only place you can take it with out a SATT.

If you can take it other place they will be listed or state all approved ranges in Ont or something similar.

i have 2 current ranges.
the one by the cottage i actually joined first but have never shot there other than the range safety course.

on the back of my ATT it says (among other things)
From (my name and home address)
to : all restricted ranged approved by the cfo-ontario
return to: (my name and home address)

so i know i can bring my restricteds to my cottage area range, its the overnight at my cottage that worries me.

i know see no evil hear no evil..but the last thing i want to do is enter a grey area and have potential to get into any legal issues.
i think im going to call and see if i can have my cottage address added to it.

I applied for my LTATT 4 weeks ago on Tuesday it was approved on Tuesday and I picked up my firearm with a STATT and record of transfer. If it was approved on Tuesday how long do you think it is going to take to receive the papers? I say maybe next week I should have them. I will post the terms of my ltatt when it is in hand. oh yeah this is in BC

I had my cottage added. But I'm in Manitoba, where things seem to be more reasonable.
