ATT's what you need to know

I've read most of this thread but I haven't found an answer to this question: Are club-arranged ATTs gun-specific? I was under the impression they were, but I've been reading posts by Ontarians saying they were taking their brand new gun to the range only days after the transfer went through. I was under the impression you needed to apply for a new club-ATT for every new gun you buy. Am I wrong?

Club ATT covers all guns registered to you. The club you join will call the CFO office to make the proper ATT arrangements for you.

I'm Ontario as well. My LTATT states:

Registration Certificate number(s) of firearm(s) to be transported:

ALL RESTRICTED FIREARMS REGISTERED TO THE
RESIDENCE OF THE AUTHORIZATION HOLDER

I added the bold. I bring this up as I wondered if I could transport her restricted to the range. I've been licenced for a while. My wife just got her RPAL, joined the club, bought a restricted and got her LTATT. Both at the same residence, same club, both with restricted's and both with LTATT's. I called the Ontario CFO last week and asked if we were allowed to transport each others restricted's to the range. They said sure, either of us could transport any restricted's registered to the residence, just have the registraion card as well.

I have an ATT to transport my handgun from Calgary to BC. The issues is that I'm flying Westjet.
Any ideas on how to avoid problems ? I have all the legal paperwork.
Thanks

I am from Nova Scotia and I am confused on the Temporary (Short Term) ATT.

How do I apply for one of these? Do I have to mail in a form and not pick up my firearm until I hear back?

Is it done over the phone in minutes?

Do I do it at the gun store before I leave?

Feel free to PM me or post on here.

Thanks!

I'm in Ontario and just joined a club. I was told my LTATT would take 3-4 months to get. Now can I get a temp Att to the club so I can try my new firearm. I really don't want to try my firearm for the first time in the middle of january at an outdoor range.

Nathan231: You can do it by phone in some provinces. I know in Quebec you need to mail or fax it in. You do it once the firearm is registered to you ie when you receive the notice of sale with the registration number or call the CFC and ask about it...

PatM&P: I don't know why it would take so long. I got mine in about a week. Maybe the club secretary or whoever process your ATT's is a little lazy? Can you just apply for the ATT yourself in Ontario?

I'm assuming EOHC? The secretary should be able to process that much quicker than 3-4 months. That being said, they took that long for mine and was told this morning that they will be taking just as long for a buddy of mine. I don't know the reason for the extravagant delay.

Yes, you can apply for a STATT while you wait for your LTATT. Call up the CFO. So long as they see that you've applied for your LTATT - read, the club has applied for you because in Ontario that's the way it works - then they should have no problem issuing your a temporary one.

awndray: yes its with EOHC. There was a big group(30+) that joined that day, maybe thats why it takes a bit longer. I'll call the CFO today see what they can do for me.

I'm not sure if we can apply ourselves for a LTATT. I know if the club does it for you then its good for all the ranges in Ontario

Thanks for the info guys

I was told by the Ontario CFO that once they receive the forms it shouldn't take more than 6 days. I hope it's true. Depends on how much time the club takes to fax the forms in. I was also told no temp ATT from the Ontario CFO without written conscent from the club. And the club won't do it. So we must wait. It sucks.

BC CFO Office Impossible to Reach?

Hi all!

I was at a local gun store and received some assistance filling out my LTATT application and they faxed it in for me as well and gave me a copy.

Problem is; That was 10/04 and it's now 10/18 and I'm getting impatient. I've tried calling the BC CFO office to check if they've even received my application approximately 15 times at varying times of the day from first thing in the morning when they open (8:30am) to later in the day (4pm). I have never actually been able to talk to someone, I always get forwarded to voicemail (somewhat quickly, I might add ... maybe 3 rings?).

I left a voicemail for them on the 13th with all my information (name, phone number, PAL number, etc) and still haven't received a callback.

I'm really frustrated here, guys. I have a firearm that I can't transport and the only entity that can grant that authorization is as good as non-existent at present time.

To make matters worse, I have a friend that applied for his on 10/07 and received notification that they needed a better photocopy of his range membership on 10/14, one week exactly with a holiday in the middle.

 What can I do?

Mine took 6 weeks and I never got my calls returned either, but I discovered that if I just called and didn't leave any personal info, just said that I had some questions and could they call me back, that usually I would get the call back in under 20 minutes.
I don't know why it worked, but it did.

Funny you should say that. I called the CFO office and left a message at 4:25pm (5 minutes before closing) and left all my information including my email address in a voicemail, and at the end also mentioned that I had faxed in an application previously but was unsure if they received it. 8 minutes later at 4:33pm I received an email with a TIFF image attached which contained my LTATT.

Someone out there likes me today! ;)

I just called the BC CFO and left a message (it's been just over 3 weeks since I faxed in the application). Within 30 mins, the nicest lady called me back.

I screwed my app. up and forgot the proof of club membership and ended up faxing the entire application twice and so they processed the first application and sent a 'you need proof of membership' letter (which will probably arrive today).

So she went looking for the second app. in their stack of applications, couldn't find it. I mentioned it was a PDF (Silvercore) and she gave me her RCMP email addy to forward it onto her. She said she would approve it right away and approve a pending transfer.

Edit @ 1:46PM

Received LTATT via email.

Is there a different form for the LTATT compared to the temp ATT?
Anyone that can assist in the proper "Alberta" wording for the form would be appreciated.

 What can I do?

Everybody likes a fruit basket...even bureaucrats.

Is it normal for the CFO to send my ATT to the club instead of to me directly ? They told me that's how the club wants it ?

Doesn't the ATT belong to me and not the club. They won't fax me a copy or email one to me.
