B+T APC223 SBR Review

Finally got back to the range after a little hiatus. No failures with the APC223 after firing 220 rounds. Almost forgot what it felt like to shoot a properly functioning rifle. Feels good :ar15:

I have had the R version for a few years now and has accompanied me on my weekly range trips far more often than not. I have never had a stoppage as best I can recall, to include a light primer strike, even with military surplus ammo. It has been a flawless performer.

Your APC is awesome!!

My APC-308 has also been a flawless performer, with zero light primer strikes or other failures to feed/function. Its accuracy is on par with a higher-end AR10, hovering around 1 MOA with Federral 168gr Gold Medal Match. I wouldn't call it a semi-auto DMR so much as I woulld a Battle Rifle with superior acccuracy.

My APC-9 has also been a stelllar performer, with zero stoppages that I can recall, ever, in the 3 or 4 years that I have owned it. Accuracy is excellent, perceived recoil is minimal, and reliability is 100%. I would take the APC-9 over my HK MP5 any day of the week.

Came across this video from Shot Show this morning. Finally the APC 223 Pro! With ambi non-reciprocating charging handle, free floating barrel, potentially lighter and comes with an ACR-like stock! Almost found myself throwing money at my computer monitor. I will definitely be buying one of those, it's got everything I would want in a sporting rifle. Just hoping the new stock doesn't come with a price increase, but either way it'll likely be cheaper than getting the ACR stock and adapter separately.

Lol it’s not just for looks, though I was aiming for a more FN Scar 20 aesthetic.
I find the Cadex stock adds more balance and stability to the rifle as it’s quite front heavy.
The stock plus an upgraded Elftmann trigger makes the 308 a dream to shoot.

I cannot decide whether to get this in .223 or .308.

I loved the Swiss arms classic green and miss having a NR .223.
I always wanted the Swiss arms SAPR .308 version but it never made it to Canada.

I have a pile of PMAGs in .223 which makes that make sense, but I needed an excuse to get .308 PMAGs.

Depends what kind of shooting you do, but I’m sure you’ll be happy with either.

A few things to consider from my experience.
1) The 308 has a metal lower receiver vs polymer on the 223.
2) I found the stock trigger on the 223 lighter and more crisp than on the 308.
3) The safety lever on the 308 is easier to actuate than on the 223.
4) The 308 comes with two ejectors and a fluted barrel which is nice.

If your finances permit the sort of flexibiity to purchase either caliber, I highly recommend the .308 over a .223 rifle/carbine. The .308 is (in my experience) capable of better grouping as well as practical accuracy out to 600m. The .308 also has the specific advantages noted in the post above, such as dual ejectors, an alloy Lower Receiver, Fluted Barrel, and so forth. Note that the Safety Switch on all B+T firearms can be easily lightened by removing the Selector Detent Spring and Detent on one side of the Lower Receiver (there is a Spring and Detent on each side of the Lower Receiver). This will lighten the Safety Lever's throw by half, while retaining positive clicks into each position.

If you can afford the APC308, I presume that you can afford the premum ammo to properly feed it. Mine seems to favour HSM 168gr HPBT Match ammo, but YMMV....

Interesting. Never thought of doing that.

.308 it will be. Thanks all.

Now to get a pro version in Canada!

Perhaps the next import. Or the one after that. They will eventually find their way here, atthough I find that with the Folding Charging Handle installed, the non-reciprocating aspect is not an issue because nothing sticks out to catch on stuff (like your thumb...). The APC 308 already accepts any grip of your choosing, so there is that. It is just the non-reciprocating CH that needs to be addressed.

The polymer on the APC223 is fine. A couple of thousands of rounds through my 223 and it shows no signs of wear.
The APC308 comes with a metal lower.
