Ballistic Plates Incoming

As far as I am aware NIJIII+ and NIJIII++ are not official designations. NIJ officially only tests for NIJIII and NIJIV. The III+ designation was introduced to act as an intermediary between the two that wasn't official and it is used by manufacturer's to indicate that it should stop some threats that the standard NIJ III does not. I think it was specifically in reference to some newer and higher velocity loads of 5.56. The plate was only officially tested for NIJ III by NIJ as III+ doesn't exist even though the manufacturer suggests it exceeds standard NIJIII spec.

You are correct, the only difference between level III and level III+ is that III+ will stop 5.56 green tip armor penetrators.

Got my order yesterday, plates are great. Wish i had ordered a large helmet instead of xl :)

We are happy you are satisfied with the plates. If the helmet is too small, you can send it back and we can exchange it for the XL. If you are interested it will be around 2 weeks at the earliest as we are sold out of most of the helmets and we are waiting for the next shipment to arrive.

Happy with the plates, but was wondering if you will be bringing in level 4 steel plates or 11x14 steel plates?

We can definitely try and bring in steel in 11x14 but the earliest we could bring them in would be in about two months. Also they don't manufacture the steel in lvl IV. We are actually currently changing over to purchasing from an American company who has agreed to match the prices that we are currently selling at. More details to come, but they are the ones manufacturing the low profile pistol vests and rifle rated backpacks.

Also we are working on potentially bringing in soft armor inserts. The prices are as follows;

UHMWPE Lvl IIIa
price per pair: 149.99

Aramid (kevlar) Lvl IIIa
price per pair: 279.99

Let us know if this is something you guys would be interested in.

The aramid Kevlar inserts would be a nice compliment to the 10X12 steel or any other combo of plate.

In addition we are going to be bringing in the new plate carriers from SRVV

That plate carrier takes Russian Defender 2 plates which are a completely different spec and shape than typical 10x12s. As far as I am aware it is extremely hard to get one's hands on Defender 2 plates here in Canada primarily because the Russian government is very particular when it comes to exporting body armour. Some manufacturer's in the US make Defender 2 Plates, but I would assume those would be quite difficult to import into Canada. If you want the same carrier with the same features and materials except made for 10x12 plates then you would be looking at: http://srvv.store/catalog/1917/64281/

Which is also conveniently stocked my AITactical Solutions: https://www.aitacticalsolutions.com/product-page/aspis-tactical-plate-carrier

I recently bought that same carrier from them and it has vastly exceeded my expectations.

If you knew this already then my apologies for rambling.

Thanks for the 411 and the confirmation on the ASPIS TAC carrier and that you are happy with the product. Will be taking a look at one next week, I have been extremely happy with all the SRVV product I have purchased from the Membrane suit to the Triarius jacket/pant, and the CS is exceptional.

Are you sure the ASPIS Tac has 4 pockets for armor Hard/soft I do not see that in the description?

Like the Alpha

The four plates in question are two defender plates for the front and two for the back. That is why it states four plates. Here is an example of the plates:

The ASPIS carrier takes regular 10 x 12 plates which are not as common in Russia, but much more prolific in the Western world. The pocket for plates on the ASPIS plate carrier is rather large, so you may be able to fit hard and soft armour in the same pocket on the ASPIS carrier. The difference essentially is that they sewed off the points where the regular defender plates would insert and expanded the pocket where the soft armour went to take 10x12s; depending on the size and thickness of your soft and hard armour it could be possible to fit both into the same pocket as there is a lot of space.

Thanks for rambling on :) I really appreciate the insight, knowledge and heck the pictures certainly don't hurt. So it would be best to leave the ASPIS Tac carrier as a stand alone 10x12 plate carrier and then get a thin Kevlar vest for underneath the carrier/secondary.?
