i would write solved! on top but i dont know how so!

another noobie thread.

finally after 2 years of having my RPal i am deciding to buy my first handgun. Sadly the budget is a bit tight so i am limiting my budget to a maximum of 800$ but more preferably under 700$. The only handgun experiance i have is with a BHP some 3000 rounds, and my hand fit real nicely around the grip, sadly Atm it is out of budget of me. So the question is whats the best bang for buck i can under 700$ in either 9mm, 40SW or 45acp.

The CZ75 family has a similar grip profile to the BHP and comes in around your budget. I would recommend that you consider a Glock 17 as it would be the best value for your money.
 
In 9mmP the Ruger SR9 and the Glock 17 Gen 3 offers the best value for money.

If you want a 45 ACP look at the Norinco 1911 or the Ruger 345. The Ruger 345 is smaller, has 8-round mags and will be more accurate.

The 9mmP will be much cheaper to provide ammo for.

really liking the jericho idea specialy since its loosely based of the CZ. how are finding parts for em and any dealers east coast and atlantic canada
 
Buy a 9mm, easier to shoot both financially and physically. Get a Glock or an M&P carry kit. Easy really. You'll get a great 'first quality' gun that will last forever and it will allow you to develope your shooting skills without any handicaps of any kind.
 
I am a Sig & HK man, BUT... Best 'Bang for your Buck' under $700 is the S & W M&P 9mm.

Don't believe all the Glock fans - the Glock is an odd beast - shoot one first, I have 2 friends who like them (not love them) and I personally cannot stand the grip - it's not natural for me personally.

The M&P 9mm is an amazing pistol for the price, very current pistol (new design and parts thought out REALLY well), people are shooting with them competitively and doing really, REALLY well.

Additionally, only a few pistols come with adjustable grips and the M&P is one of them. The backstrap is SUPER easy to interchange (in like 2 minutes) to fit our hand ideally.

But also, if you are a LITTLE patient and willing to watch the Equipment Exchange boards, with your $700.00 you can pick up a S & W M&P 9mm slightly used **With a range kit (Holster, 2 mag holder & e-z loader) for ~$425-$575 leaving you $200 for about 1000 rounds of 9mm.

**With other pistols, a Holster, double mag pouch and easy loader will cost you an extra ~$90-$100 - so the range kit package M&P is a really sweet deal.

Your question is skewed. You must realize that the purchase of a pistol will be the smallest purchase of your shooting hobby. Ammunition will be a far larger purchase in the long run.

I suggest the CZ75 family. I love and highly recommend my Sig 220/226 and HK USP 40 (out of your price range). But if there is a gun you really want-buy it. Your biggest expense will be ammo. So $100 here and there is really not much when you consider how much ammunition you will be buying/reloading. You will be feeding that sucker. Good luck with your search.
