Looks like I have a fake one off Ebay then.

I will test it out soon myself, as my 1/4/8 watt UR-5 TP and 2 watt UR-3 radios are being tested this weekend in the mountains by some friends. My father in law took my other 4 watt radio.

Ordered a couple radios, spare batteries, car charger cable and a programing cable. Look forward to getting into this as a winter project as well. Been into scanners a bit over the years and had fun with them but time to step up a bit.

Check out a program called Code Quick. I used it after trying every other morse teaching method out there. It took me 2 weeks practicing an hour a day to get to 5wpm. Code is alive and well on the ham bands still.

I was curious about the NA-771 authenticity as well. I bought the UV-5R 2 handset combo on amazon not that long ago but held off on the antennae due to the counterfeit complaints in the reviews. If they are genuine I hope that CanAm will bring more in.

The 771 is for 430Mmz, for FRS range you should get a 470Mhz range.

Look on Amazon for this - They seem to work well.
HYS TC-RHF40 Dual Band Flexible Whip Antenna SMA-F 136-174&400-470MHz For BAOFENG Two-way Radio UV-5R/5RA/5RB/5RC/5RD/5RE/5REPLUS/3R

Thanks for the tip Shadow. I forgot the FRS is in the 460-470 range. I can't seem to find the 400-470MHz ones on amazon Canada, only the 430Mhz variety. Do you have any personal experience with them?

Get an SMS to BNC adapter. This makes dozens of hand held antennas usable on the Baofeng. Use a plumbing tap washer as a spacer to take up the gap between the connector and radio body. This takes strain off the radios antenna input jack. Even the Nagoya can use one.
