BC 2013 provincial precision rile championship

Hello All,

Ok guys , get those entries in so far we have 16 entries from competitors in Alberta,Oregon ,Texas,BC
Have had several calls from people including one at 11:00 pm on a sunday a week ago asking me to hold
Positions , several locals at range telling me they have mailed their entries but alas NOTHING has arrived
Guys I can not hold this match as provincial championship without significant numbers ,above 40 at a minimum in fact 48 was lowest attendance in recent years Nor can I sort out logistics without a clear understanding as to attendance .

With that I will have a clear direction first week of June as to the entries and wether the match will happen as a provincial
Championship or a simple match OR having the date open to the BCRA membership as a practice ..only entries RECEIVED
Will determine the long weekends events

Hope the match goes ahead, I attended in 2009 and 2010 but now that it's a 4 day shoot including a day for zero and on the long weekend it makes it more difficult to get time off. Its Canada Day that pooches me because I am working that day and due to my job can't book it off. If it goes back to a 3 day shoot again and not on the long weekend it would make it easier, especially coming from out of province. I know they had a vote on it regarding a 3 vs 4 day and the majority voted for the 4 day but guys that I have spoke to said that they would prefer the 3 day shoot for the same reasons. Who knows why guys are not signing up like previous years. Its a great match and would like to make it back again but unfortunately not this year.

Hello EC,

Thank you for your input, I am already considering going back to 3 day format over 4 day , we tried the 4 day program ,Regardless of vote it may not truly be the altimate choice of many competitors in terms of time ,travel constraints ...if nothing else we have actually tried the 4 day program and gained experience re competitor preferences and as a result will make appropriate changes

Ed, I totally agree....................For myself, a 4 day match makes it very difficult to attend due to work and family obligations. I can not attend this year due to work, but will try my best for next years match.........

Ed,
Any update regarding entries received at this point and whether the match is a go? Thanks.

Hello All,

As it stands to date entries are less then 20 including 2 entries from US (not mailed in yet) I have passed this on too BCRA Council ,majority of council will be at a match on weekend and will discuss options further....that being said if the match is held the Match will Not be over 4 days or the same course of fire as listed,(match wil be reduced in duration and scale as entrants/registrations to date do not support costs of range staff over 4 days ) it will be held over 2 days(aprox -100rnds) with an amended course of fire To suite 2 days , those shooters from out of town will have to decide if shoot is worth the traveling and wether they will participate in the match - if shooters decide on staying home and not traveling that fact will also impact number of competitors /bottom line . I will not to be shooting ,I will be RSO ing entire shoot(saving on paying additional range staff) , there will not be trophies or t shirts this year or Sponsership Prizes !, a partial refund will be issued to all those registered and interested in attending amended match ( council will determine size of refund and wether match fees will be enough to cover markers and gate sentry-if match cancelled a full refund will be issued ! )
I have Informed council that a 3 day format not held on a long weekend is preferred over 4 day long weekend match And as such next years match will be scheduled accordingly .
I will have more information to pass on sometime Monday , and all those concerned can then decide how they ( competitors ) will Proceed , I will personally call all those entered/ registered ,after contacting registrants I will then decide wether match(amended)will be held or cancelled entirely and post results on this site as well as BC precision rifle site, and a BCRA mass email will be sent Out as well , this is current up to date information and as I have already stated up dates will be sometime Monday

Ed

:sok2ovrec Time to change my signature line. I guess I have a week of vacation at the end of June and no plans.
In BC we must stop relying on surveys.....NDP will form majority over Liberals, Precision shooters prefer 4 day event........:kickInTheNuts:

Hello All,

Ok everyone who has entered ( or at the very least I have entries for) has been contacted several folks have opted out and asked
For refunds ,I am waiting on a few to return my call or confirm with their partners before a final decision is made ..... Wether a modified program will be shot along side with Fclass TR shooters doing their thing or cancelled outright

Ed.
