Action Rifle League Presents:
The Close Quarter Shooting Series
Finally British Columbia has its own competitive rifle league!
On Saturday February 1st , Action Rifle League brings the 1st competition of 2014 in the Close Quarter Shooting Series, to the Abbotsford Fish and Game Club. Action Rifle League has put together a bunch of competitions at various ranges around BC in an effort to get people off the bench and into the exciting world of competitive shooting. Nothing other than basic/safe gun handling skills needed! We use a fine balance of "Big Boy" rules and at the same time have multiple layers of safety in place. Participants will shoot snap matches, rapid fire matches, move and then shoot, shoot rifles until empty and then transition to pistol. Time will be short so drills better be smooth! Wipe the bench rust off your ARs, your type 97s, your RFBs, your 858s, your SKSs or whatever center fire rifle you have. Got an Enfield or K98 you want to try? Bring it out, but be ready to work that bolt faster than you ever thought possible! Targets are anywhere from 10 to 35 meters away. You can’t miss right?!
Participants will to need to bring a few things:
 A center fire rifle (no rimfire or pistol carbines for now please). Semi autos are the standard, but feel free to bring a military style bolt gun if you like.
 All rifles must have five (5) detachable magazines capable of holding minimum 5 rounds each.
 Sights for your rifle. Scopes, red dots, Elcans, irons or whatever, it’s your choice!
 A sling for your rifle which will allow the rifle to hang in front of you, not over your shoulder.
 A reliable pistol with 3 magazines and a holster with at least one level of retention.
 You are also going to need some way to carry all your stuff. Tac vests, belt kits, chest rigs or just big pockets are all viable options. Whatever you prefer!
 150 rounds of your favourite rifle ammo and 50 rounds of pistol ammo should cover you for the day.
 Eye and hearing pro are mandatory.
 Dress for the weather and lunch will be available from the Whitespot truck again(not confirmed yet but 95% likely).
Mandatory range safety briefing will take place at 09:00 and all participants must attend. DO NOT BE LATE FOR THE BRIEFING! If you don’t attend the briefing, you don’t get to shoot. We have lots of new safety issues to run through and squadding to organize.
Match fees are $65.00 for non-members or $55.00 if you are a member of Abbotsford Fish and Game Club.
Please RSVP to actionrifleleague@gmail.com no later than January 18, 2014. Spaces are limited so register NOW!
Bring a positive attitude and come give this a try. It’s perfect for those that have never shot a competition before and fun is guaranteed! Just ask anyone who shot the last match! ;)

First!
Gotta try this again. I learned a lot last time.
One question, it seemed very crowded last time with 40 shooters. 60?
Yikes!

Well while it may seem "crowded" there were still 3 bays mostly unused on the right edge of the range. This kind of shooting does seem a little crowded. We may use less target frames, spread them out a bit more and run another relay or two to make it seem less crowded. You should try being on a relay with 40-60 guys like we have in Ottawa!

The more the merrier. A fifth relay would actually be better in terms of rotating through shoot/safety/score/prep

Only issue I'd foresee with 60 guys is that we'll have to uncase at our vehicles or at the next door range, not inside. It was like stumbling around in my reloading room. 50% increase won't work especially when you factor in the scoring duties.

Oh and I'm in.

42 people registered in less than 48 hours folks! Now that is a good response. Now to get working on the prizes... ;) I'm also hoping to have both some trophies AND classification badges for everyone, which will be based upon your scores. As you attain a goal you will be given a badge with your level of achievement on it. Surpass that and achieve the next goal and trade in the old badge for the new one. Hopefully everyone likes 'em. For this one, since no one has classifications yet, I figure top 5 get a trophy(providing I can get them done in time).

I'm hearing guys coming back with better systems than they shot before. Anyone made any changes?

I added a muzzle brake, but I doubt that'll make much of a difference.
