BCL 102 stripped receiver set thread

Cheaper from Brownells with my Mil discount, and the 20$ off when you spend 200$ code :)
Wouldnt that just balanced out with importation fees etc. Or am I just being ignorant. Personally, I like to support local businesses anyway. Just me.

Ok so for mainly whitetail 308 hunting application, which barrel and BCG combo would you gurus recommend?
And where to buy from? Does it make sense that barrel + bcg will be my first parts purchase?

Barrels aren't guaranteed to headspace. I went with the Criterion Hybrid. The Brownells BCG I got didn't work with it. The Armalite pattern BCL BCG did work with the Criterion bbl.

I ordered a Fulton Armoury bolt because Criterion uses FA bolts to headspace at factory. I have a better chance with a better match.

Bbls are hit and miss with what works in combination with a BCG or what bolt headspaces best.

The Brownells BCG fit with the BCL bbl just fine.

If I were you, and I was going right from scratch with this, consider not only what BCG/BBL combo you're doing, but also in conjunction, an Adjustable gas block and what buffer/buffer tube combo you'll use with those.

Choosing all 4 that will make for one flawless gas system will likely be better than choosing the BCG/BBL, and then later piecing together the rest, only to find out it is short stroking because of Low mass or improper buffer etc.

Are the 18.5 barrels long enough to be over 470mm? Is that 4 thou of an inch of consequence? For instance that FA barrel with product code FA-TU-002.

I went with a 20 inch heavy fluted barrel from craddock precision. Shilen blank fully finished for $350 usd. Should be a bit lighter than the stock barrel and will be head space to a JP enhanced hp bolt. Best part is a few week turnaround. Prices were so good I also got a 22inch 6.5 creedmoor and 20 inch 224 valkryie.

Thanks for the explanation.
So if I order from Fulton, they can sell me all four of those items in one shot all matching? Is that your recommendation?

FA has to be sourced through @####h at the moment. Brownells can get some other brands.

I'm only a beginner at this myself. So others countering what I'm saying likely have more credibility.

For what it is worth though, I'm a slit for reading all the info I can on things and experimenting with parts.

I went Superlative Arms for a gas block. That was through Brownells.

If you like a certain bbl, what I would do is go for a matched bolt that the company headspaces, if that is too pricy, try and find a good brand name BCG with some testing by others here that will work. I'm still running the stock BCG but changed out my Bolt.

The buffer I chose was expensive. The JP captured because it is adjustable with weights and springs. I did this because I'm changing buffer tubes.

A stock BCL buffer/tube/spring should be cheapest and function fine for you I would think.

Jerry from Mystic can do some good brand barrels for cheaper than you can source your own sometimes.

Consider that too.

I have a budget, and lacks ability to take on limitless last minute jobs. ;)
So would appreciate schooling from low end up. Thanks.

Well the cheapest lightweight barrel i found is the 18.5 from fulton. All the other lightweight options are closer to 1K.I would recomend you get at least the Fulton bolt if you dont want to get an entire BCG and the gas tube they sell.

Fulton has used @####k numerous times and they know the drill for paperwork.

I am curious about the Faxon match barrels. Was tempted but couldn't find any reviews on the match series.

I was wondering about the faxon match barrels as well. I'm struggling with the bcg, has anyone been able to drop in a bcg and bolt and have thing work without any original bcl parts? I'm wondering if they're using an armalite bcg

swap the entire bcg and should be good. Would be good to be confirmed by some one that's done it.

It appears they are using an Armalite BCG.

The firing pin retaining pin is like that of an Armalite, as is the firing pin. That being spring loaded.

The Brownells BCG based upon a DPMS gen 1 BCG fit fine with the stock bbl from BCL, but I did not do any firing with it.

It wouldn't work with the Criterion bbl so I went back to the stock BCG and it is fine.

I picked up an extra BCL BCG so I can do some fooling around with it.
